      Age "giveaway"

      IN a 'nutshell' -- -- [yes, I voted 25+ yrs!]
Honda 50 when I was nine yrs. old. Then a SL70, XL125, then a '79 XL250-S, bought my Senior yr. in high school [all of these bikes were purchased new]. 'Still have the XL250-S.
Street, etc: '78 CB750-K bought in '80. Took this ole girl to Lewisburg Penn, Tampa FL. and a few other places 'way back then.
First Major wreck: '78 CB750-K 'tore the sleeves off of my short sleeve shirt. MAJOR road rash.[I wear leather, at LEAST, ever since, Helment=ALWAYS] My passenger [who is now my wife of nearly 23 yrs] was on top of me while 'we' skidded down the hard top. Bike went down at 60 mph. 'Passenger never got a scratch!
80-G bought in '98. 'Still riding and going strong.
84 GL1200-I, bought in 2002. Totaled in Sept. 2004. Put TENS of thousands of miles on her before breaking my back in two places, numerous stitches. Broke the stitching in the helment chin strap and even the helment went flying off my head [shorty, half-helment -- --- BEWARE of these!] Luckily I was riding solo, went down at 70+ mph.
'93 KLX650 bought five days before I totaled my 'Wing. [Still riding and going strong.]
'87 GL1200-I, bought July, 2005 from original owner. 'Still riding and going strong.
LEARN from your mistakes and TRY not to repeat those mistakes! Certain things are beyond our control but one must always try to keep in consideration: Wildlife, road-kills, and those "other" road hazards that are just 'half-way thru the curve.
AND we all KNOW about the other motorists, i.e. "cages".
      Ride Safe,
      Greg
      '80 XS1100-G [Fully dressed] "Christine"

Hey, I should be a little less than a year behind you. My SG is still scattered around my garage. BUT I'm done tearing things apart!

The nice weather lately is giving me the worst case of spring fever I think I've ever had...

hope you get her together soon Eric.

I saw a bike out today (central NY)...snows starting to go fast. Still too much sand on the roads for me.

            Great first bike huh?

Got my bike last Sept. Took my first ride sometime late Oct early Nov.

                          1979 XS1100SF

yerp, that's the end of the list.
Interesting to see the distribution. Mostly those very experienced or very inexperienced.

It might have to do with the lifetime of the bike. The people who bought it when it was new and then the people like I who've bought them up once others moved on to different bikes.

Took my first ride at 13, bought my first bike at 15 . My list is too long to post or remember, my favorites were a all my triumph's a very special kawi. 500 triple cafe, a xs650 Yamaha twin punched to 750cc and of course my xs1100e. I can honestly say I have owned and ridden a bike or bikes for the last 45 or so years, and 3 continents.
