  • End of an era

I'm announcing it here first. I've been divorced for 23 years and now I've found a wonderful lady willing to be my SHMBO.
We will be tying the knot latter this summer.

Watch out for hell freezing over and pigs flying...

    Geezer

        congratulations.

after my first marriage, I thought I'd NEVER re-marry. even told my grandmother that "All women are evil" when she started pressuring me to find a good woman. Ten years later, God smiled on me, and brought my current wife into my life. we've been married for 5 years now. still go through some difficult times but we both know that we belong together - we joke about the day when she will have to use her walking cane to smack me when I get 'a little frisky'.

              Congratulations Tony.

So.... how long did you hold her hostage until she decided she wanted to stay??

Also... does that mean all of us here are no longer the beneficiaries in your will?? lol.

Does she have some adapting to do... or is she gonna have to teach an old dog a few new tricks?!? I can hear it already... "Toooonnnyyyyy..... get off that dang motorcycle site and come watch American Idol with me!!"

It was nice knowing you Geezer.. lol

Congrats, Geezer. Marriage is not for the squeamish. My first wife has been known to make my life hell. Course, I'm still married to her, but only because she's the only one who really gets my sense of humor. Like when I introduce her as my first wife.

She gives me my comeuppance. If I ever say anything about her spending, for instance, she always asks "So what do you think I'm going to do? Leave it for your second wife?"

                Quarter century and counting. Bliss.

By the way, Kat, my lovely. If you think Austin is hell, you obviously have never been to Houston. Or Abilene. Or Amarillo. I lived in Abilene for seven years, writing for the newspaper there. I don't have to concern myself about how I live the rest of my life.

I've served my time in hell.

I'll take Austin. Until I retire, then it's Kauai - the better half's homeland.

I think it is pretty safe to assume that anyone who has started and ended one marriage swears that they will never start another. I know I did. So don't worry Geez, flying pigs and frozen hell are a normal part of my daily landscape

Thanx guys. This one is a real keeper; she knows all about me but loves me anyway and she has seen my place and didn't run away screaming. ;o)

She is more interested in me getting the Mongrel ready for spring than I am. However I will probably be thinning the heard down a bit. Since the mongrel is already a rider, I will probably part out my 1979 standard and save the low-mileage engine as a spare.

Look for a bunch of XS11 stuff on fleabay in about a month or so. One of the items is a rare (for the US anyway) Euro model large standard gas tank... I rarely go more than 90 miles before I need to get off and stretch anyway so I probably won't miss it.

Congrats on the 2nd funeral. I'm on my second as well. So far it's been about 13 1/2 years after only knowing her for 12 days. Good luck and remember, Live, Love, Laugh and enjoy. and always remember there is a difference in buttons.

One thing to mention is that we've know each other for around 25 years but I hadn't seen her in about 15. When we started going out again I told her that I wasn't going to let her slip though my fingers again.

I haven't been this happy in years and I both feel and think this was meant to be. Any sacrifice I have to make to my bike collection isn't going to make much difference to me.

On the other hand I've made it clear that my gun collection stands as it is. I may not get any more for a long while but I'm keeping what I have. Fortunately for me, it's OK with her.

For now the date is set at the fourth of August. I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanx, I think we are going to be very happy.

I don't have a shop but I'd be happy to meet you for lunch somewhere.

I used to live in Astoria and I've sworn I will never live in the coastal rust belt again otherwise I love that area. Vernonia is on the short list of Oregon towns to move to and is about as close to the coast as I'll go.

Sue and I will have to look you up on one of our bike trips to the coast this year.
