      I am an original

I bought my 1980 xs1100 SG back in March of 1981. I paid $3,269.62 for her. It’s still original and in great shape. She only has 12,000 miles on her. I stored her for many years while raising our three daughters....well their grown now and my two wheeled bride and joy is back on the road!!!!

          3rd owner, both bikes

I am the third. Both of them were owned by the original owners for years-one sat, one was cared for. The 79 was purchased by my PO and kept for 10 years. The 80 was sold 2 years ago to the kid I bought it from-he never got it running, but I will.

I bought my 79 Special off the showroom floor. I sold it about ten years later to a buddy. He was hit by a car 2yrs later and she was written off. I bought her back from him and repaired everything. I aint selling this ride ever again.

No way of knowing how many b/4 me. I took a test ride on a new one in '78 and fell in love. But alas we had other places for my money (in tech school, married and 4 little boys... go figure)

                  The last owner unless

I am riding it at 20,000 miles. Bought it from a druggie. stripped down and need some tlc. no oil in the case, battery dead. warnings on dash makes it look like christmas in July. But I have blown some life back in it and just need some help...I my name is toolmaker and I am an old bike ahaulic. I am at least the 3 or 4th ower of the XJ 1100. Are these things supose to have a personality? This one is coming around. It reminds me of the dog with one eye, 3 legs, tore up ear, half a tail, and answers to lucky. I am convinced Yamaha makes some bullit proof motors.
can any body make me a copy of an owners manual or scan it and email it to me.

my xj11 has god only knows how many km on it as the odometer broke at about 56000km and was probably not working right for a few 1000km before that. from the looks of the inside of the speedo, the odometer had not worked for many 1000's of km.

i am sure that i am at best the 4th owner according to service records i found, but likely closer to 5th or 6th

No clue on the Xs, friend of mine gave it to me. He was gonna scrap it. Someone he knows gave it to him.. beyond that who knows. It seems in the last years that I can change my motto to "the bike stops here" cause Ive managed to make something of the ones that have been passed around until they get to me.. (sometimes at least you can call the time of death).. Takes a certian kinda nut I guess to give a whatever to take the time and see if some "old stuff" still works. (my buddy likes fixin up old farm equip, mabye it just wasnt old enough?? hehe)

I know I'm at least the 3rd owner, but I have no idea if there were more than that. I do know that the 2nd owner never actually rode it, so maybe that makes me the 2nd-and-a-half owner

I'm officially the 3rd owner of my 79 XS1100 sf. My friend who past away last year had it sitting in his garage for 4 to 5 years after he got his Harley. Of course it was just parked with gas left in it. His brother gave it to me. Lucky me!I fixed it in part as a tribute to him but it's been a real gift to challenge my mechanical skills and patience, etc. It's in excellent shape tho after much TLC from yours truly. It now has 10,800 miles. Runs good now. I've got to fix the fuse block before I ride again. When I got it the odometer read 10,512

I'm at least the 3rd owner, and I don't expect to be the last, as when I get to the point that I can't ride anymore I'll pass it on down to the next generation. I don't plan/intend to ever sell it however.
