    Well
    (Pop's Ride) I think he bought it back in 79 or 80.
    I am one of a few that grew up on my bike.
    I fondly remember my feet not touching the
    back pegs on it when I was a wee bit of a lad.

    (Okie) I am 3rd owner of it and my kids are
    going to be growing up on both of these bikes

      Pretty sure I'm the third owner of no 176 and second owner of no 1072, both 79 SF's. Rebuilt 1072 in '88 then got married with house in '94 and didn't store properly. Found 176 this June and had to steel some part s of 1072. Hopefully will restore no. 1072 some day in near future.

              @nd Owner of my XJ

              While I was poor and in college (eating mayonaise sandwiches because I didn't have any meat), I was riding an 81 XJ650. That, by the way, was a very good bike. Anyway, I'd ride to the local Yamaha shop to buy my oil filters (that's where I spent my money that would have bought the meat).

              In 1985 I saw my (now) XJ1100J in the showroom. It had less than 5000 miles on it. It was traded in on something else. They had some ridiculous price on it, I can't remember how much, but it was high. Nobody bought it, and they never lowered the price. It just sat there. So, in 1988 I sold my XJ650, borrowed some money and made them a low-ball offer that they accepted without haggling (I still think I left some money on the table).

              It's got something like 33,000 mile on it today. And, is in dire need of the 1st and 2nd gear fixes. With some hard work to clear my "honey-do" list, I'll get to that this winter. Wish me luck. : )

                  If you want to get exact I am the third owner, but I helped the second owner buy it, get it home, and get it running. Then I bought it from hom because he was afraid of it. So I voted second owner.

                      I bought mine 1/10/1978 for around $3200. It has just over 99k miles, uses some oil, runs great though. The engine has never been apart, has original exhaust.

                        2nd owner

                        I know I'm the second owner. I bought it less than a year ago from a co-worker who bought it new. I had 16,000 miles on it when I got it.

                        Came with OEM Yamaha fairing and floorboards but I stripped it naked. Owner had all the pieces, pegs, headlight/bucket, front signal lights, even the bolts to put it all back on with. We stripped it at his house.
