How about using photos of 1978 E models for a 2008 calander. 1979 F and SF for 2009, etc.
There would be more room for more owners to have their bike in the calender and this could be ongoing for a few years.
Have those with 78 E's that would like to be in the 2008 calender submit their photos and have the group vote on the 12 main photos.
Still have a border collage of members' bikes. The year of bike dosen't matter for the border on the month of their birthday.
This could bring out shining XSamples of bone-stock restorations, modifyed hot-rods, and the real-world rat bikes.Pat Kelly

No action shots with no people???
Unless some of the owners look like Chippendale's models... in which case... I'll take 5 calendars now, thank you (or Matco models... Easy Rider models... any garage calendar models... in which case, I'll take two)

And how is he going to pay for them ALL?

Granted the Standard was the ONLY version for 78, so perhaps for the FIRST calender that might be okay, but IMHO a good mix of models for the latter years would be more appropro. And like has been said, this MAY end up being a ONE TIME project, depending on how much WORK and HASSLE it is for him, may not want to do it again, so I'd like to have the larger variety of models in the FIRST and possibly ONLY calender!? No offense Ed, just being pragmatic!
Now, as for the photos. I think ED needs to setup a public email account like Hotmail or such, that can hold 100MB or more worth of emails. To make the best quality images, he'll need the photos in the highest resolution possible. Decent Dig Cams now shoot in 5+ Mpixel format, each photo being several megabytes in size. Photobucket and such resize them, and EVERY PERSON would have to create an account for Ed to access vs. having one account with a public known username and password, but I think there is a limit of the size of file stored, I'll check into it?
I just think emailing our photos to HIM and then him D/L'ing them would be an easier way for him to get the HiDef original photos that can then be cropped as desired, and still maintain the quality needed for printing in 8x10 or larger format!?
I'm working on getting that patch made, and it'll be a $200-$400 initial investment for a 50-100 count, I can only imagine how much he will have to pay for a run of 100 or more calenders just for 1 year, not to mention trying to print 5 years worth?? And new members that join wouldn't be able to get their bike photos into A calender IF they are already pre-printed for 5 years??
I think he'll need to put a time limit/deadline for submission of photos for the smaller B'day ones so that he'll be able to make a print deadline. AND he'll want to get the $$ up front to defer the cost of printing, and include cost of shipping, and possibly $1.00 per calender for the XS11.com site maintainance, etc., as well as knowing about how many to put in the print run, 50, 100, 1000??T. Great Idea. Probably we would need to start a thread to post pics of candidate bikes. Then have soem way to allow members to vote to rank them and take the top twelve for 2008.
Then in 2009 those bikes wouldn't be elgible so other bikes could have a shot in 2009 and so on.
It would really be instructive to sell the calenders at enough profit to help the site.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they sold very well on Ebay.
Again...great idea.
One more thing. Maybe at the bottom of each photo you'd have the Bike's name...the owner...and maybe a short list of some of the more significant mods.

What IF?
Hey John, and other interested parties,
Here's a few shots I made to kind of illustrate what the calender would look like, first, with the MAIN picture on top, and the Calender Month Matrix with the little pictures below. Then the same Main picture on top, and a FADED Underlayed image with the calender matrix Overlayed on top of it!
I personally still like the Small images, can get many more images per month! Regrettably there may be instances where several people have their B'day on the same day..ie., ME, Prom, and now even Steppenwolf! Quandry who's little bike picture gets to be on the date?? Solution, who ever posts/sends theirs to E.Liberty FIRST, and Pays FIRST! Then, the others possibly can get their photo in a neighboring box IF it's not being used, or just post their names, and then NEXT YEAR, the next person gets their bike in the date box!?
We have close to 3K members, theoretically that could be 10 members EACH DAY with the same B'day date!!! However, I would estimate that only about 10% of members actually visit the site regularly, and even LESS may order the calender, submit photos, etc.! So...hopefully there would be blank dates to allow extra photos for dates with Multiple B'day members!?!?

WOW that looks great T.C.
....shoulda done April...but it looks great anyway..
I do like the top with the individual bikes on the birthdays....maybe the little pics - birthday bikes - could be in a row at the top, or bottom, of the date page and referenced on the actual birthday date box. That way duplicate days would not affect the pic size and no nasty fights (like the one brewing between you, Prom and Steppenwolf) would have to ensue!!JimBoReeno

now, the next time i reach for a wrench to start the next project on the mighty eleven cruise missile, i'll do it with less disdain for the effort and pain, as there would be no gain with too much disdain, the gain of being in an xsive calender one day."a good man knows his limitations" dirty harry

Not bad T.C.
I like a cleaner look on the picture part though... few (or no) words and no symbols... kind of goes with what I had said earlier about not detracting from the bike itself... and I like the smaller pics on each birthday... but there are many with the same birthday (as you have already mentioned) and it might cause problems?

I really dig this whole calendar idea.
What about this? Have a featured bike on top like 'The Black' (I like the idea of no words XSept for the bike's and owner's names). And then rather than pics on the bottom in each date's square, have small faded out pics scattered randomly behind the date grid (bikes of members who have a b-day that month -if they want it).
The reason I like the faded out pics behind the grid, is because with an actual full pic, you wouldn't be able to use the calendar to write doctor's appointments and plans on it easily. Faded out pics behind the grid allow you to use the calendar this way.
My $0.02.-Do what makes you happy.
