1979 Xs 11

I am helping a friends son get his 79' xs 11 going, the gas tank has holes rusted in it.
Could some one tell us what other years will fit, to aid in our search.

it all depends on the style bike you have
a standard or special
if a standard, 78-79-80 will fit i'm not sure about 81

Special tanks from all years should fit it. Standards wont be an exact fit and would have to be modified.

when i put mine back on the road, ebay was a real great source for parts, also check out local salvage yards in your area

Tank

Just saw a tank on e-bay. Looks like he has the whole bike in parts. do a search: XS11** and all xs11 things will show up.

xs1100 tank,

Hello, nice to see another xs1100 being saved. I have a 1980 xs1100 special tank for sale. Has factory black paint on it. Both emblems are still on tank.Emblems are not flawless,faded gold letters ,some imperfections. Petcocks are gone, sending unit has damage to wiring from a carb fire. Unit is OK but need to give the wiring some attention. No key for the gas cap. OK the good. A decent used tank, no dents,no bondo, not leaking, no holes. Sand it paint it put your better hardware on it you are good to go. Price includes shipping in continental USA $50.00 andreas

I have a tank from a 79 standard that's in decent shape. Needs paint and Creem but its solid. PM me if you are intersted.
