  • New here to say hi

I have been reading this forum far awhile & was looking for an XS11 . I didn`t have to look far since i found out a guy i work with
dad had a 1980 midnight special sitting in his garage. All 3 sons do not like to ride the bike , & the mechanic son told him he`s not going to fix it any more (bike sits too long between rides) . So
being the holidays i offered him a stupid low offer of $500.00 bucks & he took it. The bike is completely stock but everything that is black chrome has some little rust pits on it (glad it sat in a garage) Anyways it only has 11K on it with a new rear tire , new stator & reg, carbs rebuilt & a new battery. I installed new rear brakes & waiting for front pads to come in & new fork seals. Can`t wait untill it`s done so i can ride it , since i`m sure it`ll ride alot different than my 04 Roadstar.

Congrats on the great deal and welcome about. Don't trust old tires even if they are in new condition. Sounds like a great deal

      Wow, nice find! Congrats.

Welcome to the site! There's a ton of info here on your bike. Search a bit and you'll find just about anything you need. If not, just ask and you'll get help.

Get some pics!! We all love to see new ones. The MNS's are especially rare. Sounds like a really good deal you got there!

Yup, confish, it's not going to ride anything at all like your roadstar! As long as you keep in mind that you didn't just but this bike for $500, but that you stole it, you'll get on okay here. Like jwsanders said, we need some pics.

          Thanks guy`s

After 31 years of riding i have had alot of different bikes , from singles, v-twins , V-4`s to inline 2 & 4`s . So this is nothing new to me, just hope it`s kind of like the 82 GS1100E i had back then (yup i`m old) LOL

          I`ll try the pic again

                  It's just not fair

Why can't I ever fall into a pile like that and come out smelling like a rose? Wait, I did... Anyway, great find!

                    Nice!!

Yeah, you got a good deal alright! I paid 400 for my 80SG and it was a pile of rust.

                    Congrats again!

                      Thanks !

If it was a woman i`d enjoy it & according to the son this is the first thing he ever sold . Most of his stuff just rots away, so i got real lucky or the bike did. I would hate to see a gem like this turning into a pile of junk, like the 73 Triumph i found in a co-workers back shed. (sad story but put a smile on the next owner)

Well as far as comparing to the zuki..when I had my '78 back in '79, my brother in law bought a new gs1000, the blue and white ones, and whenever we raced ( not that we ever did of course) it was a crap shoot as to who would win. They were very very evenly matched speed wise.

I was hoping for that , back in the early 80`s i had a 77 CB 750 with an 836 kit , cam & 4-1 header , & the rear tire was pined to the rim so it didn`t rip the tube at the drag strip. Then i bought the GS and had that punched & camed & boy was that quick It was a real wheelie monster & 90 down side streets was the norm.
