  • A darn good looking XS11 Special

I'm on my good 'ol XL500 dirt bike out for a ride and pass a trailer house with a peice of artwork out on a carpet in the front yard. I immediately determine it is an XS11. I go back when the owner is home and meet another XSive rider. He has an '80 special with only 10k miles on it, garaged the whole time. It had a new travelcade seat on it and everything was original. It was my first experience with a XS11 special. The engine sounded better than mine and he had a lot of exhaust pressure - more airflow than my bike. (compression?) The bike felt more cramped but lower to the ground. The exhaust note was different too.

I told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it (he is thinking of a GoldWing for extended traveling) to call me first. He is the original owner. And best of all, he lives right here in my home town!

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.
