  • Meeting of the XSive Minds 2007

Okay XSives... the time is getting near... sort of..
The need to finalize times so that people can get their schedules set is increasing...
SOOOO... please choose a date and we'll go with the majority on this one.
Again... this is in Hurst, Texas halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Also... regarding the use of John's tools... let's try to keep that minimal. They will be available... HOWEVER... this is one of those... "Hey Hon... let's host a rally. Oh by the way... there will be some workshops too, mind if everyone uses your tools?" things...
I'm sure most of you are pretty well stocked toolwise when you travel anyway for those "just in case" moments...
If you need a specialty tool... or something heavy duty... please check with us beforehand... if we don't have it... and you don't have it... maybe SOMEone here will have it.
    We do have a compressor.

This would also be a good time to set up what workshops and who will lead the way in them...
What would you like to see done?
What are you willing to lead the way on?

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!
and we hope to see MANY of you in March!

    Wildkat,
My daughter has her Bday on the 24th of March. I NEED to be home then, so the time may not work for me. If it's early, I can do an Iron Butt ride, and make it.

The weekend time slot would work well for me, but then I live closer than most. I will have all the parts for a clutch job and can bring 'nuff tools to do it. Don't know the size of the clutch nut but I am sure someone will chime in here.

          Clutch nut

It has been said that the nut is two different sizes...32mm, and 27 mm. I have both sizes, and if I don't have something, Sears is just across the street, and they will be more than happy to take our money.
If anyone has a question about tool availability, then just ask me if I have one. I probably do, either here or at work, and if I know I need it here, I'll just bring it home.

Who are you calling a nut?

I'm bumping this one up so it will have precedence over the other post with a similar name.

I plan on preparing a couple of meals during this time and want to make certain we have plenty o' food...
If you plan on attending (which is everybody... right? ) please go ahead and vote in the poll so we can get a bit of a head count.

1075 miles to Hurst.... and I do want to do document a saddlesore this year.....

I will have to seriously think about this. Either of the last two would be fine, but the second to last would be better, since my SW (soon) MBO has off the last week of March, and I would want to spend that with her.

(EDIT); I went with wed-Fri. Ten I can just ride back on Friday or Saturday.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

                The post that wouldn't die

that other one insist on resurrecting itself...

Hey Ray... if it ends up being the weekend of the 17th... you'll have just enough time to make it back for your daughter's birthday... without pushing it TOO much...
(at least it won't be 121 degrees going through the desert this time)

Pain... hope things work out so that you can make it!

                  Wildkat,
That is what I am looking for, an excuse to do another Iron butt ride! . This time, I'll print out everything I need FIRST, so I can send it in and get my pin. I think of the first ride, from Maximans to Cleveland, as a training ride.

I wish I wasn't saving-up my vacation time for another event (backpack the entire 211 miles of the John Muir Trail). I really need another good, long roadtrip. My week to Canada (Big Island 'Deuce') was just what I needed at that particular time. But that was what, 3-4 years ago?
Oh well, 3 weeks in the back country of the Sierra Nevada moutains will be theraputic.
