    Hey MRO,

Did you get the right WInME Drivers for that NIC? The older machines do like Win98SE, and for just browsing and such, you'd probably find it faster than loading up WinME?! And the NIC drivers are probably easier to find for 98 IF it's an older NIC!

Thanks, but no Hacking skills here, just Southern "Enginuity"!

          Hey Willy,

Thanks, checked it out, but looks like I've got similar to what he's already offering!

MRO, an update, the Install had a problem finding a few files that I had tried to copy using Win98 Dos. Looks like files with the (-) inbetween letters instead an an underscore(_) isn't recognized by DOS, even with the *.* copy command? Also, my version needed the Macromedia Flash file "flash.ocx", was able to add it to a floppy, and finish the load/install!

However, not sure if it was the computer itself, but I've got a few things that are displaying with Russian or some other language instead of English, even though I selected that language during setup? Might be because I had the SP2 files mixed in with the OEM files in the I386 folder, and the OEM files of the same name were replaced, so unless I do a FULL RECOVERY from the other partition and get it back to OEM status first, looks like I'll need to make that FULL BACKUP with NERO afterall! Just hope I don't have to EVER use it!

seems that what you need to do is

1st aquire a copy of win xp
2nd backup your drivers, by using a utility just for that
3 rd find out what your ser numbers are for your windows xp,
should be a sticker on your machine somewhere

            thats what you need
then install xp from your ( or a friends )copy, use your ser numbers to do it
then use the driver backup to reinstall your drivers

                A Nice Surprise from DELL!

                Well,

I received a package from DELL today! It had 3 disks in it. When i had gotten my laptops 2 years ago, they came with XP sp1.

The Replacement OS disk that I received today were for WinXP HOME with SP2!! They also sent the Device Drivers disc, and a third aux. software disc! I've got the XP key label on the laptop so I should have no problem reinstalling things WHEN/IF my HD dies!!! Happy New Year!
