I would'nt really count on that, roof strength is only now being updated now since the last time in the 70's. And we all know the american car makers only do the minimum neccasary to meet standards.

To really be safe right now you have to buy european. Their safty standards a much higher.

I have compared my vehicle's roof structure to that of many others. MY old ford and chevys are much safer than most others. European cars are good too. Nissan(an Asain company) obviously lacks in strength, as per what I saw yesterday. I don't know about any of the new smaller fords or chevys. I have never owned one. My only experience is with the 1988-1996 town cars, 86-91 GMC(chevy) trucks/suburbans, and the 2002 excursion. AS you can see, I only drive heavy duty vehicles(except for motorcycles). In car to car collisions, by the laws of physics, the more massive car wins. In a collision between a car and a fixed object, ususally the lighter cars designed to absorb the shock will probalby win. THe rest is up to chance. Jsut my observations anyway.

I don't consider an xs just a vehicle. It sure is heavy duty for a motocycle. But, it sure isn't as heavy as a 5500lb town car.
