Hey there folks,

Just doing some much needed "housecleaning". We have 397 users that are NOT EMAIL confirmed, in other words, they have registered, but never clicked on the Confirmation email sent to the email address they provided. Many have NOT been on for several years, but a few have been on fairly recently.

I will be RE-SENDING the email confirmation letter to each user, those that respond by clicking on the enclosed link and get confirmed will automatically be removed from this Awaiting Status.

After 1 week, those that are still in the Limbo status will be removed, and then they will need to re-register to access as well as post, however none of the ones left have ever posted!

It may have been that they provided the incorrect email address. It may also be that they just didn't want to post, only read, which can be done without even registering!

More HouseCleaning.

Well, it took me a bit longer than I thought to RE-send the Email Confirmation letters out to the folks that had registered, but had NEVER responded to the confirmation email. Of course this could have been due to errors in what the person put down as their email address. These folks have NEVER posted any messages using these usernames!

I removed the ones that dated back before 2005. There are now 183 left. The Confirmation emails have now been sent to the remaining registered members awaiting confirmation.

It's possible that many of these folks never received their confirmation letters due to errors in their registration of their email address, and so they merely re-registered with a different username, included the correct email, got their letter, responded, and got confirmed and were then allowed to post messages!?

Folks don't need to be confirmed to just LURK. So....IF they/you get deleted, they/you can still read the messages without an actual username. However, if they/you want to post replies, they/you need to be confirmed which requires answering the confirmation letter.

The SPAMMERS show up in the Unconfirmed section because they Register but don't use a legit email address, or they don't reply since they are usually done by SpamBots. But they easily get lost among the 180+ users awaiting confirmation. So...this is why the unconfirmed usernames will be removed/deleted to make it easier to find the NEW Unconfirmed Spammers!

Just wanted to post this explanation so that those users that don't confirm may find their username not available to sign on with. But as I said, they NEVER Posted any messages or replies! All they will have to do is Re-register with a real email addy, reply to the confirmation letter, and their username will automatically get moved into the confirmed/active usernames. And they will then be able to post messages as well.

You should know how to make it work. Please contact me so that I can verify your email addy, you may have entered it incorrectly, and so you can't receive the confirmations to reply to them??

If I don't hear from you, then I'll have to delete your username. Not a big deal, just re-register and be sure to include your active correct email addy, and reply to the confirmation, and you'll then be fully registered and won't get deleted!

Okay folks,

As I stated recently, IF you can't sign on or post due to problems with your registration, you CAN NOW contact us thru the NEW Contact Webmaster email, it goes to a ForumAdmin address, and I"ll get it, so I can correct mistakes made during a person's registration process, like putting in the wrong email addy!

The above members have been on recently, a couple are very new, and may have NOT responded to the Confirmation email sent them? Again, I ask them to respond to the Conf. Email to get fully registered. IF they didn't receive one, contact me and VERIFY your email address, I'll check it against your registration, and correct if wrong, and resend the Conf. Email.

These are the newest members who have registered, but have NOT replied to the Confirmation email. Again, I ask ALL members who Register to REPLY to the Conf. Email, or your username will NOT get fully registered, and you cannot post messages, and your username WILL BE DELETED.

PLEASE contact me thru the Contact WebMaster link which sends emails to a Hotmail account that I monitor for this site! Provide your email addy, so I can verify that it's correct, or fix it if YOU made a mistake typing it during Registration! Then I can resend you the Conf. Email to reply to!

When a user who hasn't clicked the link in the confirmation e-mail logs into the forum, doesn't it automatically take them to the confirmation page?

I just did another test, and a new Unconfirmed user can LOG IN and OUT, but when they go to the forums, and then try to post a reply, this is what they see:

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.

If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Activation=confirmation!
