  • tank emblem(s)

I went down to my local Yamaha dealer today and bought a set of tank emblems for my 82 xj. Did I get lucky or what? Just glad I didn't have to pay the property tax for the dust on the plastic bags. Parts guy said some guy had come in and looked at them 20 times, said he would be back. I don't even belive it.

I checked with my yamaha dealer, the tank emblems can be obtained for bout 12$ pair. The side cover emblems are no longer avaliable.

I got one from the dealer for my SG, but it is not the exact replacement as many know. It is silver in color, probably that golf cart thing. (Also, mine doesn't quite fit flush to the tank, but the tank is compromised, and a little reaming of the screw hole would help if I cared.)

Thats a good idea, haven't polled the local dealers for tank emblems. I found the last Flasher relay in existance according to the dealer here,,hehe had to scrap the dust of it,but its pristine,,, so even my emergency flashers work,,,never woulda figured that either, them having one,,,shoulda tried the other parts,,,hmmm wonder what else they got stowed away.

The dealer I use looks like a General store and is in kind of run down area in south of county, but I chose them because they were halfway between work and home and have been Yamaha dealer from the very beginning. I tried to use the one near my my house because parts guru is friend of my wife, but palatial showrooms and gigantic buildings don't get you parts. You will be surprised ar what you will find-internet doesn't have all the answers-does have the info. I look up my part #'s online and then call my source with the #'s- saves them time and they seem to appreciate that.

Would it be Yamaha of Doraville? They are a huge contrast to most of the dealers with newer nicer showrooms, but I have found they often have older parts that the other dealers don't.
