  • someone hit my bike

so, i just got the bike up and running 2 days ago. repaired the transmission, rebuilt the carbs, new clutch cable, new throttle cable, new battery. I brought it to the dealership to get a new rear tire.
well, someone brought in an atv to have some nerf bars put on, and did a wheelie in the parking lot, lost control and slammed down on my bike.
He broke the seat studs, crushed the rear fender, broke all the lights, broke the tachometer, knocked a fuel line loose, and put some new scratches on it.
Well, after all that, the guy is paying the dealer to fix it, and I am the proud owner of a 2006 yamaha v-star custom 1100.
so as of now I am no longer a member, but I enjoyed my 3 weeks of ownership, but in the long run decided against repairing all of the damage and other problems that still needed attention.
thanks for all the help over the past weeks,
    steve

    Congratulations?

This all leaves me with one question... did the dealer give you the bike? Did you buy a bike while you were there because you then needed a ride home? Did the guy buy you a new bike and then also pay to repair the XS(XJ?)? What will you do with the XS now? I can see drooling faces already... another XS up for bid... woohoo!

Okay... more than one question... but only need one answer so I think it's good.

Sad... another 982 posts and he would have made GURU, too. At least he knew, however briefly, the wonder of the XS. Oh, how cruel the fate's can be.

This is why I never ride to the dealer any more. The first day i went there, like you said, idiots were doing wheelies in the parking lot. All I can say is, what a dumb_sh**. Now I take my beat up 86 Sub when I need to stop by. Bike bandit usually has lower prices than the dealer, but there is the rare occasion when there is a benefitby going to hte dealer. And most of the people working there just try to sell you a new bike. Last time I went there for some parts, they asked me if I just wanted to buy a new more relaible bike. I replied by telling them to look at the 2$ bill for the parts on a 27 yr old bike. If thats all it takes to keep this bike running, and the expense of a new bike is a heck of a lot more than that, why should I blow several thousand on a new bike that doesn't have the class of my 27yr old bike that only needs $2
