  • Clubmen Bars

Anyone got a pair of clubmen handlebars (7/8 inch) kicking around that they would like to sell. I want a pair to fit my 79 X1100. PM me. I can order them for 51 bucks Canadian but figured I would check here before ordering from the shop.

I did manage to find some clubmen style bars for my bike but it looks like I will want some rear sets if I am to enjoy them fully. Anyone have ether a source for, or plans to build your own rear sets for 79 1100 standard model?

            Hey Rob,

Once I finally get my Garage cleaned out and the "stuff" into the SHED, then I will have lots of room to "play" in my Garage/ makeshift machine shop, and I already have the 1" thick stock aluminum that I have planned on using the try to duplicate the 1" "setbacks" that you might want to use? Hope you're not in a big hurry?

Do a search for setbacks, there were some links posted for some that are just straight UP that might work for your application and not too pricey! But if you want the ~1" up and ~1" back towards the seat, then those are very pricey at $100.00 us for a pair, I'm sure I can make them much cheaper!

Have you ever ridden a bike with clubman bars? They're bloody uncomfortable and most people take them off after a couple hours of riding.

If all you need is about 1 inch back, why don't you use the european footrests?
XS1100 and XS650- what do you need more?

Ummm...... he's talking about foot pegs, not handle bars. Got a set on the Norton, and they do make low bars much more liveable.

I rode with clubmens on my 500 Yamaha for a long time with no problems. Final position of the bars always needs some fine tuning. The bars I currently have on my bike are in deed not right for me. They are too close to the tank but the vice, some heat and bending will fix that. I will have to do some playing around with them to get them "just right". Rear sets or set backs as some are calling them make a big difference in overall comfort when clubmens or clipons are used.

It's not just the position of the pegs that needs to be moved back. It is the foot controls as well. Every person is different so set backs for me might not be comfy for you or TC or anyone else other then me. It really is a custom job but many pre made units are or were adjustable.

                          That's just what I meant.
The european standards did have the pegs and the controls (shifter and brake pedal) about 1 inch back. Like this one.

Those foot pegs and related parts are unobtainum in the US.

I'd like to have a set for my 79 but the odds of finding them are slim to none.

From time to time they show up on the german ebay "www.ebay.de"
I guess the controls could be salvaged from another bike and the part that sets back the pegs is really just a cast iron bracket.
I will take a picture on the weekend.
