i finally got it running and man oh man does it run! the whole problem with my bike was a shorting pick up coil. dont ask how because i dont know. i got it running after i took a month off from working on it to spend time with the new baby. then my p.c. took a dump. i've put just over 300 miles on it in the last few weeks. i love the bike it rides like nothing else i've ever ridden. but now the bad news my wife is scared of me riding it after a rash of local motorcycle accidents.(none of 5 have been the bikers fault but all 5 the riders have perished.) so i dont see a point in letting it rot away in the garage. it is not stock. it has new tires ,all wiring has been gone through, 42000 miles and an ok paint job that looks great from 10 feet away. aftermarket pipes. and the carbs are very well set. i have no idea what its worth. could someone put me in the ballpark?

FREE to a local loving, caring, member! lol. Just my two cents to add... I wrecked my previous bike and did a face-flop onto the concrete... my OWN fault. It scared my wife so bad, that I finally did get rid of it. I have ridden a few friends' bikes over the time I was bike-less, and missed it so bad. Even rolling down the window in my work truck... feeling the wind wipping my hair and face... was BLISS... just closed my eyes and imagined I was on one again... which isn't good if you're the DRIVER! lol.
Anyway... I finally told her that I couldn't deal with it any more. It was an addiction and I had to have a fix. I told her I missed that high.... and that I was either going to get another bike, or start doing heroine... take her pick! lol.
Anyway... my short story gone long... you WILL regret it. You can look at statistics however you want. In the span of the 5 fatal bike wrecks... how many fatal CAR wrecks have their been? I have always believed that when it's your time... Wife finally decided that if I get killed on one, at least it will be doing something I truly love. I don't get too outragious on it, and I am 1,000 times more cautious than I have seen most of the crotch rockets being. I would imagine that these are a good part of the fatalities.. either that, or Harleys that the Amish people in their horse-drawn waggons overtook them too fast and couldn't stop in time!
Seriously... I would let it rest for a season.. give it some time and thought, then if you're still stuck on selling it, wait until spring or early summer and you'll get the best price for it then anyway.

Really hard to say, XSROSS. Most people pick these things up, running, for around $500 to $700. I tried to check Kelly Blue Book several years ago... was around $800 if I recall. I may be mistaken. It would have to be in really exceptional shape to bring you more.
But then again... a running bike, sold to someone that doesn't have one... is worth whatever he's willing to pay, I 'spose.
