Let me know if anyone knows of a 'Midnight Special' area where you all post stuff specific to my bike.

    Thanks,

    Steve, three questions.
    1) where are you located?
    2) Do you lock it up?
    3) do you have a dog or gun?

      XS11 LG

      Hilarious!

Yeah it's definitely locked up. Everyone keeps telling me what a great bike this is, even when they aren't running very well. I've been told by many that with some patience, TLC and LOTS of parts, this bike can be back to most of its original state.

Can't wait to get it on the road!

All the differences between Specials and Midnight Specials are cosmetic. The only physical difference (and it's still cosmetic) is the set profile. The 'step' from the drivers to the passengers section is steeper. This is achieved with a wedge of foam attached to the seat cover (so any seatcover for a Special will work, just not technically the same). They also have a double row of stitches.
Also the welds are smoother on the MNS. I read that they were hand welded as opposed to being welded by robots.

LOTS of parts, this bike can be back to most of its original state.

XS (to me) has been easy to work on. Been able to repair most parts, and at a very reasonable price too.

Best way to get parts cheep has been to get whole non running XS's...
