Pull out the fireworks: MY dad got anther bike 79SF Can you say XS11 fever! This makes 4. I can say one thing, I love being the mechanic. THis is my first special to work on so I have some books to consult. I am semi familiar with fuel system, and other cosmetic differences. I feel very comfortable about rebuilding standards. Now, its time for some new material. THe only bad thing is, on the way home on the plane, the bag with tools and other spare parts including (alternator, reg/rect, semi-good harness) was lost. I hope it wasn't stolen. MY dad and I flew up. He and I adjusted a few things, I flew back, and he is driving it from Fresno, CA. to here in Texas. I really want to open up a motorcycle shop. Too bad I am 17 and have no money any more

Hate when that happens. Airline lost my luggage once. I went into the office to fill out a complaint form... and the guy behind the counter was wearing my suit!

You had money at seventeen? I'm fortysix and still don't have any.

Hey, I drove right by you. The actual location was Fish Camp by the entrance to the park, but I drove to Fresno to the Airport. I would have paid more attention but I had a 1o clock plane to catch. AS for how I found it, 1 word EBAY. I am jealous of your back yard. You have the opportunity to ride through those AWESOME mountains. I rode the new XS into the park and I took it up to that road on the right that is at the gate. Not sure of the name. On the way back to Fresno today, I must have hit 100 and didn't even feel a thing. I was a little pressed for time. Also, after I flew home and my Dad returned the rent car, he got about 80Miles from the Mojave desert and the engine started to quit. It had been running great all day, and then about 200miles later, after the air tempurature heated up in the lower areas, the ignition started to cut out. I believe it is a weak charging system and that with the headlight switch being stuck in the high position, caused the coil to loose enough power for the spark. My dad let it sit and cool after he fixed the headlight to the low setting. After that it ran well again. I am not sure if it is heat related. He and I just want to make sure he will be able to get through the desert tomorrow or the day after, starting out early in the morning. Have you seen Grapes of Wrath? I told him to take off the plate with the fuse panel covering the electrical connections and clean them. I hope that it is just a weak charging system due to poor connectors and the high beam on. BTW: he talked to a guy named Tony that is friends with the Owner of Merriam Cycles, if you are familiar with that company. I know this is the wrong section to post this in but who cares. Any thoughts would be cool. I do plan on taking a motorcycle trip up the the Natn'l park sometime in the future and I will stop by.

Prom: I hate when this happens. I hope nothing was stolen and I will find out tomorrow. They tracked it to DFW so It was supposed to be here. I just know these parts will show up on ebay. I don't know what I would do in your situation, maby throw some punches or something. No one would probably want to wear my clothes, they are all older than me. My dad seems to have gotten the best outfits from the 70's and 80's All I can do is hope for the best.

My mom told me that he tried it for a while. My mom did DISCO a lot. He mostly has a buch of random differnt things. MY grubbies consist of an old pair of jeans(mine) and a 70's Eddie Bauer shirt which I occasionally wear to school. I feel that I missed out on the good times. Was I born in the wrong era?

Good news. After many more calls, the bag arrived. THe parts are all there(thank God.) THe tool kit was opened and the tools were scattered, evrything is still there. So I now have much needed spare parts. I just have to clean everything up and get it working. The bag, unfortunately was ripped at the straps. THe loaders probably lifted it and broke the heavy duty straps. Tomorrow I will know how the bike does across the Mojave desert.
