I just wanted to brag (don't we all) about my XJ.
I have needed a paint job as the old silver tank has some dings, scrapes and surface rust. I got a couple of quotes from shops and the lowest was around $400...OUCH.
The brother of one of my daughter's friends is in his second year of paint and body school in Nashville and offered to do my bike as a project for a class grade. No labor cost, just paint.
I ended up giving him the tank, both fenders (chrome is dinged and scratchy) and the side covers. He is thrilled and, even if his job is less than perfect, it will look 100 times better than it does.
While it is apart it gives me a chance to go over my brakes and finally troubleshoot some electrical issues. (running like crap when it rains and I am pretty sure it is not the intake pods pulling water. )
Anyway I hadn't thought of having it painted as a project and thought I would pass the idea on.
Will post pics as soon as it is back together.
