The 2006, “Second Annual Tahoe Rally “ was a fairly well attended event. I just got home and I don’t have time for a full report at this time, but suffice to say, a good time was had by all.

Was Maximan able to attend the rally this year and ride is bike home?
Were E. Liberty, DiverRay and Pat Kelly able to resist the temptation to pull the driver of a certain trailer towing oversized camper out of his cab, pummel him and question his parentage?
Is there anything to the spreading rumor that there was a race between Maximan and a pack of “outlaw” Harley riders down the “main drag” of SLT to settle who had the fastest bike?
Did DiverRay live up to his name with a certain “Exotic Dancer” late Saturday night?
Can anyone trust anything inspired by a Muse who is a twice- convicted “bunko” artist who uses a half dozen different aliases?

I’m sorry but you will just have to wait for the answers until I am able to do a proper job, complete with photos. Look for it in the next week or two under “ride reports.”

I'M BACK!

If anyone cares.

Rode a grand total of 3914 miles in 7 1/2 days. This pales in comparison to Ray's 7200 miles in 13 days. Of course two of those days were very laid back in Tahoe. I only rode about 400 miles those days.

Rolled in about 8 pm today (Wednesday).

I rode from Durango to Stillwater today ... 822 miles. Zilla is officially a MONSTA. At this speed he doesn't even breath hard.

I was running between 90 and 100 mph most of the time. The top end roll on is amazing. I must get that 17 inch standard rim installed with a taller tire.

My 20/20 was constantly scanning a 1/2 mile ahead for those pesky tax collectors. I never got nailed. Beat a couple to the punch. West of Amarillo I spied one of them about 1/2 mile out. I was doing 95. I just let off the throttle and the compression had me down to 80 within a couple seconds. He glared real hard...I waved REAL big... but he kept heading west....Whew!

But the kicker was about 10 miles west of Tucumcari. I went under an overpass at about 105. I was passing three big trucks. I don't like to hang around those monsters anymore than I absolutely have to.

I thought I saw something strange upon top of the bridge. When I looked back it was 2 NM State Troopers in a car. One had a speed gun of sorts...dunno if it was radar or Lidar. But he didn't come after me. Guess I got lucky on that one. I was passing three semis at the time so maybe he couldn't get a lock.

My rear Avon is toast. I suppose running 95 mph for 4000 miles will do that. It already had about 4000 miles on it and looked near new when I left last week. Man...speed is expeeeensive.

Note to self: The US interstate is so dated! We need an AutoBahn of sorts.

Glad you made it home! Maybe you can advise me on fighting a speeding ticket.
CHP claims they got me on radar doing 85 uphill in a 45 mile zone. C'mon, it's a 27 year old bike with 80,000 miles on it with a 60 year old rider with more miles than I can count.

Thoroghly enjoyed the weekend!
Great people at a great location.

Rode the freeway from home to SLT after work. Traffic wasn't too bad. Found my way straight to the Motel and couldn't miss the XS11's in the parking lot.
Rooms were nice tho small. Staff was friendly and it was very convient having Carrows next door, Longs Drugstore across the road (with quite a variety of merchandise), and Kragens Auto a short walk away.
Group ride to a restraunt/casino where we were told that helmets weren't allowed inside. Good meal at a very low price.
Sunday found us riding east of the lake to Virginia City. 1,000 Harleys lining the street (Hoss would be proud), a classic car show (some nice hot rods), and touristy old-town atmosphere was nice.
Ride back had the group split into two groups with half of us rounding the west side of the lake. It got very crowded with traffic and was stop and go (mostly stop) for about 2 miles...for people trying to turn left into a parking lot (idiots).
Riders behind me got smoked-out with my bike "burning the midnight oil" as Cody put it. Definately time for a new top end.
Dinner at Carrows and a discussion about tire sizes (ducking).
Monday had the group heading west to Markleeville. Split at the turn to Monitor pass as Cody and Miles turned east and south, Ed, Randy, and myself heading west and south.
Headed over Ebbits pass and ran into a small caravan of RV's that were inconsiderate. Made it out of the foothills to the central valley where I had to dig into my memory for a backroad to my house. We made it to my house where I checked-in, then I showed them the way to the road home for Ed and Randy (at least you didn't get a ticket in Modesto).
I'm ready for next year.
I fixed my gas leak.

Zilla IS a monsta, and you did get close to my ride. Your final day was only 200 miles off my one day, Stillwater to Cleveland ride!
It was great to see you again, and I did enjoy the ride. What did you think of the view from Monitor Pass, looking down on 395? We hope to see you next year, same weekend, same place.
The ride was as Pat said, with dragxs and his brother joining us on the Sunday ride. We did stop a little more this year for photo ops, and I think Ed has some good shots to post. I took a few, but have not had time to even get them out of the camera. Miles had a headlight problem, and we managed to "patch" it, so he could ride home safely. Other than that, all the bikes and riders behaved this time, and I think I can speak for all in saying we had a great time. The XS group is a great bunch of people, and I really enjoyed the weekend!!

Yes indeed. I think I will dub your Eleven "Skeeter Killer" in memory of the old mosquito foggers back in the 70's. Remember those things running around town spraying DDT laced fog? Yeah we used to ride behind them on our bikes thinking it was fun. Little did we know the health dangers. That must be why my right wrist is constantly twitching downward when I ride a motorcycle.

I did a little over half the distance...but also half the time so it was just as intense.

If I had a bigger tank I could really make good time. Stopping every 130 to 150 miles just slows ya down. I am going to start working on some really slick custom tank. I gotta get the 'tween fuel stops up to 200+.

Soooo...where's the exotic dancer you mentioned? Damn! Last year it looked like a series of death-rides...this year it looked like fun. I guess I'll just have to tell my kids to take a hike when they hammer me about being gone. Of course, I had a great time, too, but missing a fun XSive event sucks!
