• Hi gang!

Been off the web for quite awhile, writing this from my friend's computer. Rusty and I are doing fine.

Rusty's coming up on 55k miles still running like a Swiss watch. Just mounted new shocks, 3/4" longer than stock and a new set of tires. The longer shocks have made a vast improvement in the handling. I take back almost everything bad I ever said about the Special's handling, gone is the "strange" low speed steering and the thing tips into corners so easily now that it feels a couple of hundred pounds lighter. Steering is dead neutral at all attitudes. The muffs rusted off at the collectors, a little muffler tape, hi-temp RTV and hose clamps fixed that little problem, at least for now.

My open invite to show forum members around beautiful Lake County is still open, just call me first...(707)277-7912. Talked to Uncle Spot a few days ago on the phone. Hey mro, give me a ring.
Shiny side up,
650 Mike

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - Sprung

Hi Mike, glad to hear from you!
If you would like some mufflers, let me know. I have a pair of HD muffs that I'm no doing anything with. We could fit them in one day, I think.
I'll have to try and make it up your way one weekend, just don't know when. PM me and let me know what you think you need for your computer, as I do have some "spare" parts around here.

Ditto that

Ray and I live within 12 miles of each other. I'd really like to make a run up to see you. Maybe we can get a ride together.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
I've been riding since 1959.
