    Getting close!!!

Aye, UncleSpot, I’m of a like mind. Last years ride of 300 miles and 3 passes was great for bragging rights, but we did have a rider go down, at least in part due to fatigue. I’d like a less harried ride with lots of photo ops ( am I the only shutterbug?)
I must say, however, that the ride down into Nevada with that sweeping, downhill 70mph curve that seemed to go on forever is worth another ride! The bitch about being a biker/photographer, is when does one stop riding to take a photograph? Or say “screw the photo, this is a hell of a ride!”
One possibility would be to ride through Virginia City, and instead of riding into Reno, (sorry Matt, but “ho hum,”) head down to the lake and take in either the east or west shore. I think the west shore is a bit more colorful.
Yes, Matt, please, if I could crash (in a manner of speaking,) at your dad’s place, that would be super!
UNCLESPOT, I was only half joking about meeting at your place on Saturday morning/ or what ever.
If we don’t want to wait until mid afternoon to ride off with Pat, we could head North to meet Knewsome in Lodi, and let Pat catch up with us Sunday morning in Tahoe
I think meeting in Tahoe at Carrow’s Sunday morning 9:00 A.M. is the simplest plan. How we get there is another matter. I have faith that we can work out the details.
Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
    I've been riding since 1959.

Im not looking at roadracing on this ride. I do like spirited riding but I do like to check stuff out too.
The "Death Ride" days were late 80's and 100 lbs ago.
I should be at Motel6 around 6 or 8 pm on Sat nite. I can get my 'need for speed' out of my system on that opening leg.

Scenic rides at reasonable speeds with frequent stops is what I look for at a rally. 400-mile days are too wearing, lead to accidents, and defeat the purpose of meeting other XSives. I can ride my ass into the ground anytime; shooting the breeze with you guys is a rare event.

I'm riding up with my neighbor and riding mentor, Dan. He likes the road bent, but he's 72, so fatigue has to be avoided. I'm chicken, so grinding down hard parts in showers of sparks is not going to happen for me. I'll ride with the old men and women, and I just have to suffer Pat's barbs about being able to outrun me on his bicycle...

You're safe, I'm leaving the bicycle at home.
That's why I suggested a ride around the Lake (shorter route) and checking out the cool spots along the way.

The Tahoe ralley should be nice. I'd like to share a camp space with someone, if anyone is camping. I'm out of town for work once again, so I don't have the chance to try and reserve a spot. I will try and ride up with E.Liberty once again, if things work out for me.

I considered camping until I saw Tahoe's low temp last night was 34 degrees. I have a good sleeping bag but it's a motel for me this time

If it's THAT low, I may have to motel it! I'm in Los Alamos, NM at the moment, and it's dropping to the high 50's at night. This is 7,000', so I thought Tahoe should still be doable.
I may have to skip this year, if I can't find a little extra cash...

                  One More Time?

Ok ok what are the dates again. Labor Day Weekend?

I may just be crazy enough to do it again. This time I'll bring another Coloradoan from the Denver area...if I come. He rdies an '81 SH.

I was going to ride my Flying Kaw...but seeing how there may be a XSive reunion I'll have to reconsider.

Hope I can make it. I would really like to see all you fellas again. Hopefully not face down on the side of a mountian in Markleeville!

                    Love to se you dude!

C'mon up if you can. Looks like it's going to be tight for many of us, but what the heck.
The goal is to meet at that Carrow's resturant Sunday 9:00 AM. That's the third of September

MMM! Zilla's triumphant return? Just a year after looking like that, I'd like to see. Doesn't sound like we're revisiting Markleeville though. On the other hand, it's only 30 miles from South Lake. Promise I'll keep the krzmssl from snuggling up to Zilla this time. Little did I know, the missle likes big butts
Still feel bad about that though. Thank God you were'nt hurt.
Note to self: No matter how good of a rider you may be, trying to communicate heading into a 15mph turn isn't a good idea!

Ed - I'd love to see you again too bro. I assure you Zilla doesn't look anything like it did that day.

Matt - One reason I wasn't hurt any worse was wearing a full faced helmet and body armor. You saw that hat...can you imagine what my face would've looked like with no full face helmet. I shutter to think of the improvement it could have made.

Pat - thanks for word. But if I'm going to an XS rally I gotta ride an Eleven. I had originally planned on riding down hwy 50 from Pueblo, Colorado to South Lake Tahoe the first week in September on my ZRX just to see Matt.

But when it became apparent there would be a few XSives there on their Elevens...well geesh...I just couldn't embarrass my new Kawasaki that way. He would feel so inadequate around all those superior machines.

                              Ray,

Not making any promises...but I'm gonna try to be there. IF we do it we'll be riding in mid afternoon Friday. So I'll be at Carrow's (Sept 2nd) Saturday AM eating breakfast.

I really hope to do it but I can't make any promises. I have a lot of "irons in the fire".

                                Ray's on board!!!
Can I crash (again, only in a manner of speaking,) on yer motel floor? I'll pay half.
Matt has most kindly offered his Dad's guest room for Sat. nite, but there's still Sunday...
Looks like half the rally is going to be the trip up and back: at least for us central valley / coaster's. Ya ho! Can't wait!
