  • wife plays hardball

the restoration efforts on my '79 are taking much longer then expected, disappointing, but no real surprise. so today i see an ad for an 81 xs, i called the owner and its been garage kept, real clean, no rust, so i set up a time to meet him etc. Called the wife to let her know and she pulls a very underhanded punch. worse then the proverbial guilt trip.

if i buy the bike, i can't buy football tickets when they go on sale in 2 weeks. decisions, decisions....

Theres always ESPN and next season !!!! Is that bike gonna be there next season?

..good decision, let us know how it goes.
i cant think of anything that i could watch on TV that i would trade for a cool new ride [except maybe a "ride" in the back seat of a Honda civic with Carmen Electra]

A Honda Civic??? I was thinking maybe something a little bigger.... but hey. Carmen says yes, I'd do it in one of those litttle clown cars in the circus... lmao.

Last night I went for a ride in the evening hours. It was about 30 minutes before sunset. We have been having some storms so there were clouds around, but was nice and clear where I was. The temperature was dropping to a nice level, (Been @ 100 and muggy in the day) the clouds were making one H*&^ of a show for sunset, and the bike was just purring mechanically. There were very few cars on the road and everything was just right. I sat there thinking... you know, this is better than sex right now! And I like sex a whole lot more than football... so my opinion.... GET THE BIKE! None of the games I have ever been to can compare to the view from my lounger in front of the big-screen anyway. If you miss the yelling and beer being spilled on you... invite over some buddies!

              Hee hee... 3rd time...

Another option... Put your foot down and tell SWMBO that by God just for that, you will buy the bike AND the tickets and if she doesn't like it, she can take her little happy a@@ down the road. Then, as you're picking your stuff up off the front lawn, you can see if Geezer wants a room mate!

                just checked it out

                OH MY GOD

not a speck of rust ANYWHERE

not even a HINT of blue on the pipes

its so clean the part numbers on the pipes look like the machine just etched them

                only 12,220 miles.

i swear it looks like it just came off the assembly line and runs that way too.

imaculate is almost not good enough to describe it.

You know, maybe you should buy those tickets after all. Be a shame to miss going to those games.

Why don't you just pm me the contact info on that guy, and I will take it from there.

SWMBO put her foot down, too. I was mooning about getting a new bike and she said that if I got a new bike, the XS11 had to go as there wouldn't be two bikes in this garage until one of them is hers. I was resigned, happily, to riding the XS for a while longer until the bombshell dropped. Two old riding buddies (well they're not as old as I am) and I have planned a get together on the Central California coast for the end of August. I called the dealer to set up an appointment for an oil change and a general going over before my trip (they did it the last time a couple of years ago). The dealer informed me that they would no longer perform service or repairs on my bike. I've got bad hands and bad knees and can't work on the bike myself, so it had to go.

Luckily, a member has made me an offer and my baby is going to go to a good home. I have put money down on a 2004 BMW R1150R with only 10K miles. I'll pick it up in Northern California in two weeks, stay at my buddie's house, then he and I will ride south, pick up buddy number three and head for San Luis Obispo.

                      I'm gonna miss my XS,

                      Ralph

Boy can I relate to this one ... SWMBO has been on me since I brought my XS home. She keeps catching me searching e-Bay and looking at all the bikes for sale and reminding me that I already have one and she does not. Looks like there's no way around it. My next bike purchase is going to have to be one for her.

                            Misunderstanding...

Don't get me wrong mro ... I'm very excited about SWMBO wanting to ride with me. I just want to be free and able to buy another bike should a perfect deal, like the one valhallan ran across, finds its way to me.
