  • 85 650 worth it?

i'm considering purchasing an '85 650....the guy says nothing is wrong with it but i still think asking too much at 1200....
any opinions on this bike? typical problems?
the 1100 is still out of commission thanks to this petcock/carb/octopus? issue its having......

so i don't want to jump the gun and make another purchase if its going to crater on me too...don't get me wrong,i LOVE my xs,but i need to ride NOW before i can't anymore.........

anyway, feel free to let me know about these 650's.......i'm still not sure if i would even like the downgrade in power to be honest

    When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

$1200 seems steep for 21 year old 650 unless its in primo condition and you don't have to do nuthin but get on it and ride. As for the rig itself, they were fairly quick for there size with no inherent problems that I have ever heard about. They did nothing great but everthing well. Do the normal things you would check for on a used bike and then make your best deal.

Save $1,180. Buy a petcock repair kit, trash the octo, clean your carbs and ride your XS11.

            650?

            Hi Raider,
            OK then, an '85 4 cyl 650.
Everybody built one, some mfrs built several; some were good & some were turkeys.
Make & model, please; so we can better advise you.
BTW, trash the octopus. Run leftside tap to left carb pair & right to right. T across between the fuel lines.
Remember to turn the taps on and off like in the old days.
