eBay search text

Just thought I'd post the search I use in eBay.

(81, 1981, '81) (xs1100, "xs 1100", xs1100s, xs1100sh, "xs 1100s", "xs 1100sh", xs11, "xs eleven", "xs 11")

Of course use your year and model. Most of the time I pull the year off since most of this stuff is interchangeable.

Was talking to several friends that don't use eBay 'cause they can never find anything.

Check out the use of the '*' it means 'and anything else', so...

("XS 11*", XS11*)

Will find anything starting with either "XS 11" or "XS11".

This helps find those ones where the seller has added the model e.g. "XS1100LG" is not found when you just search for "XS1100" but is found when you search for "XS11*"

in your searches, you need to remove the spaces after your comma's.

try this one

(xs11,xs 11,xs1100,xs 1100,xs eleven,xs1.1,xs 1.1)

.. i search ebay the same way that Brain does, except i just use XS*. it brings up every XS model, some parts from other models fit our bikes. like gauges, controls, brake parts and stuff like that.
i can sift through some extra stuff to make sure i dont miss anything i could use or need.

"XS11*" works great but also use "XS 11*" and "XS eleven" to get the rest.

I normally just use XS1100 and usually get 200-300 hits.
I'll have to try these others to see what I've been missing.

Geeze, that text I put up will get you all those results in one shot without having to sort through everything more than once.

Every once in a while you want to try out SX in your keyword string to catch the odd incorrect post. I managed to 'steal' something that way a while back.

The counter at the bottom of each ebay page is also a good reference to tell you how many other people have looked at an item you're interested in. Chances of sniping are better when only a handful of people have checked out that gem you think you've found.

Yanaha is also a good one. Common misspelling.
My brother searches the phrase "I don't know anything" when looking for stuff on ebay, making sure to click the "search title and description" box. You wouldn't believe the deals he finds.
