I bought mine at an independant bike shop

I paid $350 for the kit and $160 for the machine work. You can order the kits from Weisco Pistons directly. They have a web site. There are two sizes available for the XS11. 1179cc, which I have , and 1196cc. All that needs to be done is remove the head and cylinders, and have the cylinders bored to match the pistons. The 1179 kit is 74 mm. The kit contains pistons, rings, wrist pins wrist pin retainers, and a head gasket. I replaced the clutch and springs, as well as having the 1st & 2nd gear fix done. I had the engine completly torn down when I did the work. You will need to buy new cylinder to crankcase gasket and O rings, and a valve cover gasket. A new cam chain wouldn't hurt, seeing how your going to be right there anyway.
My engine is an 80, so I kept the head with the bigger valves, but used the stock cams. I do have a set of 78 cams that I will swap out someday. I mainly did the work because my engine was getting tired and OEM parts are no longer available.

      Hey Bandet,

I had problems several years ago trying to order from Wiseco, cause since the XS11 wasn't as popular as it once was when it was still in production, Wiseco only ran these pistons for a short time during their production cycle each year!?

So....this link for Pro-Flo in Fla. where you can get the big bore kits is a very good deal! There's a typo in their description for the 1179 kit, it's 74.00 mm, not 78mm like the 1196!

I didn't split my cases, I did fix my 1st and 2nd gears, clutch plates, and valve and seals job, went back with OLD cam chain(didn't then know the NO SPLIT CASE Chain replacement technique!), OEM cams. I hadn't ridden it for 9 years previously, so my seat of the pants feel for how much more power it has vs. the OEM setup was not very good! I think it has plenty of pep and power. I recently rode a fellow Xsive's 80 special, and it seemed quite peppy also, but it had some high rpm clutch slippage!

I did mine because of severe internal rusting in the cylinders, not so much to make it much stronger, but it didn't hurt!
