They aren't gonna be chasing speeders on that Busa, it's a public relations tool. Probably confiscated it from some drug dealer. To think that they wasted tax $s tarting it up into a cop bike.

Shiny side up,
650 Mike
XS1100SF "Rusty", runs great, 96k miles
XS650SJ "The Black Bike", engine from XS650H with 750cc big bore kit, 30k miles
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - Sprung

If anyone can piss off money it's OHP. They have recently posted billboards all over the state inviting people to apply. There was an article in the Oklahoman newspaper last week that said they had just purchase 20 or 30 new unmarked cruisers and were planning on hiring abut 60 new troopers. The reason?
I saw nothing in the article mentioning safety. It only mentioned they were trying ...and I quote..."...to raise 9 million in revenues..."
At least they are being honest about their tax collection scheme.
BTW...I wished you could've made it to Tahoe. I really wanted to meet you. We may differ on some things but I think we agree on one - XS1100.

I love Oregon. Not only is it beautiful .. but the people put a CHECK on taxes. That means they are holding the reigns on what most politicians won't.
The whole traffic ticket system in the US is nothing more than a rip-off for most "speeders" Very few people are ticketed for driving dangerously. They are simply "TAXED" for speed. It is absurd and I think it's time for a Boston Tea partof sorts for traffic tickets.
The truth of the matter is they can not enforce speed limits. Oh yes they can single out a few people but the rest of the masses just fly by troopers that have the singles stopped.
In the mid-west the traffic flow is consistently 10-15 over the limit. On I-80 west of Omaha the limit is 75. But if you are not driving at least 85 you are creating a hazard. 90% of the traffic is at 85 or faster. How do you enforce that? You don't. Nebraska stops only the most flagrant of speeders.
One more time...the US needs an AUTO-BAHN! Can I get a witness?

One more thought. I was on an OK Turnpike a few months ago when OHP had the plane up. They had 7 or 8 cruisers on the ground stopping people.
It was a total joke. Troopers had 12 or 13 cars pulled over and were trying to get more to stop. Many of the people they were waving over just kept going. I don't think they even understood.
One trooper got pissed because a woman didn't pull over he pointed at. He jumped in his car and took out after her. Nearly caused wreck pulling out into the flow of traffic that was about 80 mph.
But the joke was the ones that were not being stopped simply cleared the traffic jam and within a 1/2 miles were right back driving 10 or 15 over.
It's mass rebellion I tell ya. They CAN NOT enforce a speed limit. They can only make examples out of a few and it obviously has little effect on the hundreds...even thousands of other drivers.Last edited by MAXIMAN; 09-11-2006, 01:00 AM.
