Very cool to see another site dedicated to the XS1100. Now, if I only studied French.

Now... I did! I just contacted them....... will pass on any useful info or invitations. How about a European gathering? Or a USA/European XS1100Fest? Now that would be something....

        XS 11 in France

        Good evening to all,

Last year was the 10th birthday of our French owner's association.
We'll be pleased to answer to any question regarding the French market and the specificity of the XS 11 sold in our country.

Only 2 models has been regulary sold in Europe, the 2H9 from 1978 to 1983 and the 5K7 from 1981 to 1983.
XJ 1100 has never been introduced and we moved directely from the XS 11 to the FJ 1100.
We have a lot of technical information available, just ask us.
        Regards.

        Lionel

Wow, that's cool. I didn't know that XS1100 went to 83 in France. So they got two more years of XS goodness but didn't get the XJ? It's interesting sometimes to get a little bit of a picture of how Yamaha marketing went in the past.

That makes alot of sense actually. Since they did not have to compete/match the look of the Harley in other countries, it would not have made sense to go the XJ model route there.

                XS 11 in France

                Good evening,
In fact, 2H9 sold during 1983 was only the end of stock. They just changed the tripping of the tank and of the seat (with a red line added), but without any technical change.
Officially, only 2H9 for the standard model has been sold, but 3X0 has been sold from 1982 to 1983 under the homologation of 2H9.

For the XSS (5K7), only one version has been sold in only on black color during 1981 and 1982. The last bikes has been sold during 1983 and 1984 but coming from the 1982 model.

                A special version has been introduced in 1979, based on the 2H9 and called "Martini", equiped with a British fairing (with a British design...special but efficient);
Pictures of each version are visible on our Web site.
                Regards
