You can get brand new ones made of metal from Badgereplicas out of Australia. Pricey but beautiful:

Same ones are available from Old Bike Barn here in the US:

Supplying new parts for Vintage Motorcycles! Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. Old Bike Barn has what you need for your vintage motorcycle project!

I've had them on mine for four years and they DO NOT tarnish!

Thanks for the info on the badges for my bike. I was told the badges from mikes bike barn are smaller than original badges, is that true? If so I will check on the ones from australia, thanks again morgzilla(78 XS110E).

The badges from The Old Bike Barn ARE the badges from Australia. They are smaller because they are cast in metal and shrink in the cooling process. You must install them with 3M emblem tape as the mount holes won't line up. These are what you want if you care to spend the money.

The holes are about 4mm off, so I used one existing hole and CAREFULLY drilled and tapped a new hole in the mounting flange on the tank. That was like brain surgery, man.

The side covers were easier! I was not keen on the double-sided tape thing. These badges are HEAVY.

            about badges

g,day people, new man on board, the badges ur talking about are top notch, just under 10% smaller than original from shrinkage while being made, can,t tell though even up close.
With $ exchange at the moment you should pick them up cheap as chips $US: Pay about $ 40 aud down here for 1.1 badge, less than $100 aud for the tank badges.
look forward to chatting with you.

              Hey Morg,

Are your badges broken, or has just the plastic gold chrome worn off??

There are few tech tips and threads regarding redoing the badges for a fair site cheaper than buying the fancy Australian ones!

Makes me wonder about IF they know/knew that the badges would shrink 10%, why they couldn't make the molds bigger to allow for the shrinkage?? But then again, I know nothing about making sand cast molds and such?? Just seems a shame that they couldn't make them the proper size to allow the OEM screws to be used.

Somebody with a nice little CNC mill could probably make some $$ from making these out of aluminum plate, or brass!

I have some experience with the Badge Replicas cast metal badges. A friend of mine bought some for his XS-2. There is a large "U" shaped chrome piece that mounts on the side cover. It did not fit at all. It was very disappointing, but I need to add that Badge Replicas gave him a full refund, including shipping from Australia!

I would not expect this to be a problem with the XS11 as long as you are willing to use the badge tape or drill the mount holes. It's been proven to me that they're reputable people, so you have nothing to lose.

                    Xs1100 badges

Thanks to everyone for the tips on the badges. Mine are only faded a little(the gold) but I am trying to make the bike look super clean especially since I was able to find a stock tank still in the origanal box(macho maroon) that some guy found in michigan in a barn with a bounch of parts he bought from a micigan dealer. I have been looking for a tank for many many years. I think new badges would look good with the new tank. I agree that I wish the holes lined up when they cast the new badges, but that's what the XS1100 forum is all about teaching others there tride and true tribulations. Again thanks everyone for your support. Is there a place where we all can put large pictures of our bikes so everyone can see better pictures? see ya Morgan.

                      $10

Side cover emblems are on closeout for ten dollars over at old bike barn.

That is an awesome price! If you need 'em, snap em up, they're excellent quality. Note the hole spacing issue in the above posts. Drill one new hole.

Just so everyone know's the badges at old bike barn are not for the 1978Emodel std, they are for another year. Besides are tried to buy two and It looks like none left. I normally am not a negitive person but I am sure people who really need the badges for there bikes are out of luck because some people just bought them because of price and will try to make a big profit on those of us who really need them to restore our XS1100'S. Maybe Im wrong I am just fustrated because I cant seem to find the correct one's for my bike. Sorry for the negative attitude,Morgzilla.
