I read through the tips site. I don't know why I didn't see this post earlier. In general the tips were pretty good. I can see many a flaw in some of these tips they give. I guess I just get PO'd when their tips are based on innacuracies like this one, I thiink it is the best "If all the brakes had to do was stop you then all they would have to do is lock your wheels". The coefficient of friction (static) is less than that of the coeficient of friction (kinetic). In simple terms, you will stop faster if you apply as much brakes as possible without skidding the tires. The tapered braking article is full of more innacuracies but I had to erase that part of my post because it was too long. In conclusion, there are a few tips that were written by people that don't know how to analyze things with respect to the laws of physics, but the rest was well and good.
BTW: I started this reply 3hrs ago. has anyone else started it, read some more from something else and come back to the reply?
