  • Robert (Bob) Jones (R.I.P.)

In August of 2007 I had the fortune to visit with Bob at his Merriam Cycles Shop. We had e mailed back and forth questions and answers for a couple of months before I went there. After graciously signing and dedicating his book, #275, he offered to take me to his house and show me the rest of his great collection of 11's. Here's a few of the pictures I took that memorable day.

More from Bob Jones stable of 11's.

After coming home that day, still amazed at his knowledge of and passion for the bikes, I devoured the book, learning of his life, family, friends and trips. When joining this group, I learn of his leaving everything he loved. I am honored and humbled to have met him and shared some of his love for life.

Wow... so THAT'S what those Samsonite bags on Russ' bike used to look like..

Harry probably remembers them though since he has seen them so up close.

I just now saw this post. Thank you for the great pictures of Bob and all his motorcycles. Even though it makes me sad, I know it was a good day for him. Talking and showing off his bikes was his favorite thing to do. See post on south central; we are planning a Memorial party in Bob's honor at his home; instead of the ride to Arkansas. You've seen "The Real Monster" garage; and great picture of it. It most likely will be June 5th. That seems to be the most popular pick. Al, I hope you can make it. I am sure you can relay a story Bob told you that day. Thanks again for a great post.

                  memorial party

After Bob's passing my brother and I( both from Alabama) acquired both SSr bikes from Karla. WE LOVE THEM!!! Please do the memorial party as we will be there. I also have a bike Bob built for me after 10 years of saving for it. I have a few stories and memories I love to tell about Bob.
