  • XS1100 carbs for sale

    Howdy everyone,

I haven't been active on the forum for so long that the site domain name changed.... sheesh.... I do miss the XS1100s I had, but I have stayed true to Yamaha anyway!

I was going through boxes and found a set of XS1100 carbs that I still have. I don't need these and it has been so many years since they have sat in a box that I don't even remember the year. Real sorry about that. I have also not torn them down for cleaning or inspection. I can do that if requested, or I can do a clean and rebuild as well beforehand.

I thought I'd post here before going to eBay.

Let me know if interested and do please use PM to make an offer. Thanks.

Based on the exposed idle mixture screws, looks like '78-'79 MY.

Seems like the idle mixture screws are missing or broken in #3 and #4.

Ok, I took a few minutes to inspect.

It looks like I put them in dry storage so many years back that I don't remember how long it's been but I had cleaned them first.

      What's missing:
      1. One float pin is missing.
      2. As radio guy pointed out, 2 idle mix screws are missing. However, the threads look good and there are no idle mix screw tips broken off inside. Looks good to me.
      3. Looks like a vacuum cap screw is missing.

I won't break down all 4 carbs for inspection or cleaning unless anyone needs more details but I am confident they are good. The diaphragm pictured looks great and the jets are all there. The choke circuit moves fine as do the throttle butterflies. With a couple of new mix screws and a float height and jet size check, they are probably ready to bolt on and try out. They just look dry from sitting so long.

I could use a spare set of 4 vmax carbs or even 2 vmax carbs if anyone had a good set to trade.

Man... I had some great years with the XS bikes and this forum. Brings back great memories. I had a hard time letting the XS bikes go. The carbs were simple and easy to work with. The V4 carbs are trickier to get to.

There are 1 or 2 XS/XJ bikes in the neighborhood....
