  • 1980 Standard (G) Seat - Trade?

    XS Folks,
I recently acquired several "G" parts that are of no use to me for my specials. This seat is in good shape (NOT "Great", NOT "New"). My son and I had been considering chopping it in 1/2 and using it on the Dead Duck Café bike but that seems like a total waste. Especially since someone may really need it. We'll grab some café style mini-seat for the Café bike.

I don't want anyone to think they are getting a PERFECT seat so here are some pics:

Top Cover is in decent shape and MAY be one of those travelcades?

It has a weird wear spot/line on BOTH sides that is not all the way through. I'm ASSUMING something was set on the bike when it was out of service that caused this

The overall condition of the pan is good and feels completely solid at the mounting points and throughout the main body.

HOWEVER...water may have been trapped under the cover's edge and some rusting did occur at the clip edges. A couple of the bending clips are rusted off. The edge is generally solid.

I am certain "I" could repair this edge and would do so if this were an SG seat. Not everyone could do so......

I am also not certain how hard these are to find? I've never really looked for one. The prices for a G seat in this condition are all over the spectrum on Evil-Bay.

For those with completely rusted out & destroyed seats this would certainly be an improvement and would be nicer with a little work. It's honestly in much better condition than the seats that originally came with two of my specials. The third didn't even have a seat.

As will be my policy with all the G parts I plan to liquidate, I am more in favor of a TRADE for ANY parts that I could use or use as spares for my SG's & SF. However, I would make a $$ deal. I want us to each get a "good deal" but this seat is going to cost me AT LEAST $20 to ship to anywhere in the US so keep that in mind.....

What ya' got to trade? What's this worth?

    Sincerely,
    KURT
