Very Nice
Very nice of you to consider Greg's offer. A lot of us here really appreciate you doing that in order to preserve the Venturer.
As mentioned, you are entitled to do anything that you so desire to the 11s. Not everyone likes to see them done up other than stock. But that is ok.
Thank you for considering XS11.com for your needs to get your XS11 project headed in the right direction. We will be glad to assist you. You WILL find priceless information here as well as an occasional sharp opinion. Don't let that slow you down. We are passionate in our preservation of the XS1100.
Welcome to the sight.1981 XS1100H Venturer

Very cool offer Chicago. It'd be nice to see that bike goto Greg.
And, Moto, I'm getting older and have over 20 bikes between my garages, dating back to a 1965 Honda Cub 50, with my newer bikes being a 2007 GSXR-750, my dad's '04 GSXR-1300 Hayabusa, and my '01 Honda F4i. The XS1100 is a fun everyday bike (only reason I bought is, was because I wanted to see how it compared to my XS750/850's), however, I don't put the bike on a pedestal, as it's in the stone age compared to my modern bikes. I put a fair share of money into it, as I do all of my other's. But, it's only gone-up in value because some dope with more money than brains wanted to re-live some teenage ambition of owning the bike, and paid an anstronomical fee that some owner assessed it for. I don't buy into the fact that this bike is a collector just because somebody has their bike looking like Mike's or MP's. Not bashing the bike, but how many people buy a modern ST, FJR, etc., and find this bike on the side or corner of the garage more? This bike is not rare like a CBX, or any other "collectable" bike. It's just as-common as Suzuki's GS1100. I get why everybody get's butt-hurt over somebody tearing apart a good-looking bike. However, I don't think this site was set-up to bash a new member just because you don't agree with him modifying his bike. I don't remember there being a Mission Statement sign under the XS banner stating the goal to be preserving these bikes as OEM . . . Go over on the GSResources.com site, where their membership topples our's, and they even have "rat bike", "chopper", and "cafe" categories, where guy's show-off some cool bikes. Embrace people's creativity. Or, go on Michigan's Craigslist, and buy all 40+ of the XS1100's for sale (rare bike . . . ).

I am waiting for Greg to reply to me and send me some pictures of the bikes that he had. I have brought this bike back mechanically. Just needs a couple odds and ends aka ignition coil for #1 and #4, and of course some elbow grease. I just like adding my own flavor to things. I don't think I've ever kept something that I have owned stock.
However there is a 700 mile gap between Greg and myself. That is a tad bit far.81 HComment

Sorry Brant, I was not referring to the Venturer, just the XS1100 in-general. Don't think I don't appreciate a nice Venturer like your's, and MP's. Nice bikes, and I'd like one for cheap.
My point is: this forum was not setup to bash people for customizing their bikes to their own tastes and function. Don't see anyone bashing T.C. for customizing his bike . . .1979 XS1100F

Someone who takes an XS11 with ALL the original FACTORY INSTALLED accesories and THEN hack it all up seriously needs their head examined or a good education of an original Venturer

Sorry Greg I saw your emails yesterday but was busy. Those bikes all need more work to get back to at least running than I really want to do at this point. Between school and work I don't have that much time. If anyone has something together/running in decent shape like this bike I would be more than happy to trade them for their bike so I don't chop up this bike. I got this bike running great. In the process of going through the whole brake system. Just trying to find a decent ignition coil. Direct message me.81 HComment

Hmmmm................ I guess I just didn't understand. Sounded to me like you were going to tear that one apart, put it back together and make it "yours" as they say.Greg

Nasty Chicago air indeed. I cannot stand Chicago. As soon as I am done with school I will be moving to Scottsdale. I only go to Chicago for work. I'm from orland park to be exact. But yes, I plan to make this my own. I am getting rid of the fairings and making this a cafe racer style. And yes I plan on replacing both coils I am just trying to get something to get me thru until next paycheck.81 HComment

, For what your planning for the bike, the Special or XJ overall with the frame differences make a way better overall look for what your planning. The Vemturer, being basicly a Standard lacks the leading forks(steering stem has different angle also), so swapping out to Special fprks changes the rake angle to poorer handling
. The Venturer is the poorest model to hack into 'your bike'. Still would consider doing some swapping with Greg(BA80). Wirh no real answer yet, he is still waiting for one
