Xs 1100 special 2nd gear.

I just bought a 1981 XS 1100 Special and every time I shift into 2nd gear it makes a grinding noise. As far as I know that is the only gear that has that problem. Does anyone know what is the problem and how to fix it?

A somewhat common problem...In search section of site here,you will find a detailed explanation of the procedure to repair,some choose to upshift from first to third until they can get to it..(wait till winter) ...hope that helps
