I now officially hate you for living so many thousands of miles away from me. Especially since I have more or less completed my project SG.

            xs1100 forever

Its ok Motoman,,,,I have a bunch of xs1100's that will go on long after me. These things go forever, plus I only put on a few thousand on each in the year. And they are still the best old school rockets in history. Between work, family, house, rental properties, surfing, racing, etc.....ride time is limited but fun.........see ya soon Motoman, hope you can ride out with the Texas clan as we are heading up north with them to the California rally, then up through Oregon and Washington. Some of them are heading out your way, Sturgis and Colorado............see ya, Mike in Sun DIego

              Hey Mike,

Not sure if I'm "a good upstanding member of the XS clan". Got my first XS11 last year and I haven't contributed alot of knowledge to this site. Mainly because I've been busy making rookie mistakes/repairs and having to do them again properly (with the help of this site). I've been riding for about 5 years now, but this is my first real project bike, one that I've committed to learning as much as I can about and doing all the work myself. It's not hard to get motivated because I love this bike and have been lucky to get to ride about 100 miles a week.

To the point... It seems I've reached an impass with XS, and in my limited knowledge, I think the head might be cracked. I've got an oil leak with all the characteristics of a CCT leak. After replacing the main CCT gasket, sealing the plug and lock nut bolt, Replacing the CCT, installing an Auto CCT, and finally re-installing the stock replacement, I'm starting to lose my mind.
Every time I inquire about this problem, the response is always that the problem must be the CCT, but after installing the last one with a good torque-tight seal, I think the drip is oozing slowing from above it. Every thing from the head gaset up is dry, it looks like it coming from right under just behind the head bolt (directly above the CCT). Damn these oil leaks are hard to pin-point!

I'm looking to pick-up a spare engine for this thing and mix and match to make the best one I can. I live in San Diego and would be willing to pick up any thing that you think would help.

p.s. I know I don't not jack s*&% about these bikes, but I'm trying like hell to learn. In the last year I've become a total XS11 guy and I'm not gonna let this stop me. I'd rather not make too many more rookie mistakes in the process though

Are you willing to ship or is it local pickup only? I'm interested in carbs if you're shipping.

                Thanks!

HI, pickup only, as shipping is expensive these days. The free xs1100 bike and most parts are still available, minus the tanks for John in Texas who is swinging by shortly........Mike in Sun Diego

That would be my buddy Jake. He just graduated from UTI mechanics school where I work. I guess I will now be helping him get one going. Is there anything significant about the bikes I should know before we dig into them?
