I would give a picture with the bowls off so a potential buyer can see if any float post are broken or have been repaired.
If you do not know for absolute certain they have been thoroughly and completely cleaned, then any potential buyer has to assume they will at least need to clean the carbs. And possibly replace some parts.
All that said, $300 is typically the price for a pristine cleaned, and ready to throw on your bike, tune to the bike, and ride it set of carbs. And that is what I would say is the top end of that price range.
JMHO....YMMV.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

With my small amount of knowledge with these carbs, I now would look at the needles to see if they are nice and tapered and also look at their holes to see if they have been drilled or wallowed out. As mentioned, with the bowls off you might find some stange or missing parts. My second set of carbs didn't have plugs in the pilot towers. Someone had screwed some additional 180 jets on top, right next to the mains! So instead of a plugs you had jets. It must have run though because the guy that I bought it from said that it was running good until it blew a hole in the block.79 XS11

Yup still good. But I agree with dpotter. Your "friend" is a prevaricator.

The many sides of the english language
were exploited by whoever told you those were cleaned!
Granted, the exterior looks really spiffy and clean. But the insides, which is what makes it all work, look like holly batcrap!!! You have to realize that unless those are given allot of care and slow methodical effort to break them down and get all the jets out, it is highly likely one will be striped out. Which could easily render one or more carb bodies just as much of a PITA as if the float post was broken.
Not ripping on you, you apparently were an unknowing soul that bought based upon the information you were given. However, this reminds me of when my kids were little and asked to clean their room. Ten minutes later they were done, and everything looked sparkling. Except if you looked under the furniture, inside the closet, or in the drawers of the dresser.
Realistically, in the condition they are in, $200 is well overpriced. Sorry, that is my opinion though.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

you are ripping on me! Just get off my thred and move on! I don't know why you guys are crying about it!!!!!!!!! **** i am not even tripping like you and they are mine and my loss if you want to think of it that way. Not a big deal this is how it is with these old bikes I clean KZ1000 900 carbs all the time. I have even seen **** brake on the cleanest of carbs. Yes it was not what the guys said and only the outside have been clean. Still a good carbs set with no broken or repaired float post. These carbs are still getting harder to find. With out having to replace a carb body. **** i will clean them myself if i have the time.
