Hate to say it, but I think parting it out may be the right way to go on this one title or not. There is some serious rust around the head of that frame, enough I would be concerned about riding it. Something got to the front of that bike, I have never seen one with that kind of corrosion on the triple tree, or the front fender rusted out like that. I suppose the brake fluid must have ran out and down that frame, the trees, and onto the fender for a LONG time.

With what I see rusted on the parts of the exhaust you can see, I do wonder what the parts you can not see look like though, that is where it typically is the worst.

On the positive note, the seat pan does not look bad, and the inside of the tank looks immaculate. The left side cover looks like the locking tab in in place. Plenty of nice looking parts on it.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

Some pics of the exhaust off of the bike.

I agree with you looks like the master cylinder puked all over the front of the bike. I did find this one in a garage though so the rust didn't have a chance to spread too much. The bike looks like it has had some bumps and bruises along the way but still a lot of good parts here. The pipes do have some surface rust on them but are still solid with no holes or cracks.
      More pics here.

I don't think it's pitted bad enough to worry about strength. A little sandblasting it would be alright. Why can't you get a title? The PO being a jerk? That's Jap steel, at the most a couple extra beads of weld could solve it.

          PO is working Two jobs.

I tried to get a title but he lost it when he moved. I suggested a lost title form with transfer. But as far as I know you have to go into the tax office in person and wait an hour. Or I offered to pay the fee and a couple bucks to him if he filed the papers then signed it over. That's when I got no response. He is a nice enough guy but he has a lot on his plate. So NBD I will just do what any responsible gear head would do and sell the parts so that the bike can live on through others. If anyone is interested in the whole thing before it gets too spread out shoot me an offer. I have a trailer and can deliver within reason (like 50 miles or so)

I don't know about your state, but in Washington all you have to do is pick up a release of interest form and have him sign it in front of a notary then give it back to you. If it's the legal owner signing it, then all they have to do is check the box stating that they lost the title, and it releases the legal ownership to you. Take it in with a bill of sale and the bike is yours. You can find a notary just about anywhere for free often. Banks are a great place to start, every one goes to the bank.

Your state laws suck! He would have to fill out an application to replace the title, then take it to an office. Now I see what you're saying. But it BS that he complains about handling his responsibility. If he is the legal owner, then it should be easy enough. You should see what I'm dealing with. I don't even know who owned the bike. I called the police to make sure it wasn't stolen and right then they log down my name and address. Then I send a form to the state requesting a disclosure of personal information to get the legal owners address. Then I have to send the affidavit/release of interest to the legal owner as certified mail with copies. If that person doesn't respond within 5 weeks, I can apply for lost title and register it. Then there is a time bracket, and if nobody tries to claim it, it's mine. On the other hand, the legal owner may just sign the release of interest and send it back, then it's mine. Either way, since the vehicle has not been reported stolen before I officially requested his info, then he would have a real hard time in court trying to take the bike from me. So it's mine regardless. Whoo

I can get a title for this bike but....

Floriduh has recently changed its laws so I can title it but it is a PITA without the help of the PO. I was trying to do it with reasonable cost but it didn't work out.

I think you should exert a little pressure on him. Knock knock.

Please don't be shy to make an offer on a part. I put prices up as a starting point. I figure I can go down a lot easier than I can go up ( You older guys know what I'm talking about...J K Hehe)
I am not neglecting my friends to the north on the shipping. In the states we have flat rate boxes that make shipping estimation easy... If it fits it ships for the same price. To use the same service to Canada is quite a bit more expensive (almost double in some cases) so in those cases I will be quoting shipping on an individual basis to keep cost down. I am selling parts not shipping.
