        Welcome!

        Hi Alan,

Good to see another XSer in my area. 78015 is Boerne, right?

I am NW 1604 at Guilbeau.

We will definitely have to get together soon. (I happen to also be a Mercedes nut)

          Hi John.

Yes 78015 is Boerne. Just the bexar county side if it.

I just acquired the bike. In the middle of doing the second gear fix.
Hope to have it back on the road soon. While im doing the fix Im also Modding a sportster seat to fit and chain tensioner mod and the list goes on.

We should definately go for a ride when shes all back together.

                Thanks for posting the pics.

They look pretty good to me. Way better than my stock pipes.

I'll get some shipping quotes next wk Actually I see your sig. says you have an 81 Special...Not sure these will fit the Special...They will fit onto an '82 XJ1100 maxim which is equivalent to the Std model XS1100...but there are slight differences in the exhaust flanges where they couple to the engine...I think...No experience with the SpeciaL exhaust...so hopefully someone else will chime in...

Actually the XJ is like the special not the standard.

I was never sure although I had an 81SH Streetfighter...it never needed an exhaust as it came with a great Kerker on it. I dont know why I still feel that the XJ was more like the Std than the Special...but thats what I have been believeing for yrs. So can anyone confirm what Nate is saying?

Good catch madmax! I didn't even think to ask or check application.

I did some googling and I'm not 100% but I am at least very positive they do fit the special.

Take a look at these two links.

if you scroll down to the Mac section it reads,

                        Mac 004-0301 - Megaphone
                        4-1
Advert says "High performance 4 into 1 exhaust systems with upswept megaphone features center stand retention, removable all steel baffle, improved ground clearance, easy access to oil filter and drain plug. High quality chrome.
Applications: XS1100 Standard and Special, XJ1100 Maxim. Does not fit models with factory oil cooler. Some 80 Models may require spacers be used on exhaust studs."

As at Nov 2009 these are still available from Mac Performance and cost $390.Also available from NicheCycle at $330.
