  • Vetter frame mount fairing CHEAP!!!

I have a Vetter fairing including the frame mount. It came from my 82 XJ parts bike. I will never use this and hate to see it in the junk pile someday. Throw me a couple bucks plus shipping if out of area and it is yours. I am in the South Central part of Wisconsin (north of Janesville) It is complete.

      Vetter frame mount fairing CHEAP!!!

Ditto to CB's inquiry. Is it a Windjammer-and what model; 3,4,5? This can get tricky. Best bet is to post a pic, or you can email one, if you're techno-inept-like me. Trying to rebuild a recently crashed '80 G standard. Thanks.

Windjammer 3 has 2 rectangular side marker lights and turnsignals that stick out. Windjammer 4 has built in turnsignals. Windjammer 5 has more of a angled lower front, built in turnsignals, a headlight that adjusts from the driver side, and a big trim piece going around the headlight. This bike has a WJ5. Another clue Windjammer 5 do not have the round white Vetter Logo in front of the Windjammer lettering on the side of the fairing. That was last used on Genuine Vetter made WJ4.

          Vetter frame mount fairing CHEAP!!!

I'm still trying to determine what I have. It has the locking compartment on the right, and the leather flap pocket on the left. 7 mounting holes for the WS w/ 2 clips at the top on either side. Square headlight w/ chrome bezel, and square turn signals that stick out an inch or so. Says Yamaha where this pic has Windjammer. The only nameplate says Yamaha, and is mounted inside left, with the plug-in for the lights mounted right thru it. It has the one-piece Vetter mount, but nothing that says Vetter or Windjammer anywhere. It's on an '80 standard G. I can email pics to anyone who might have a clue as to what it is.

              Windjammer V

It has a tag stating it is a Windjammer V so assuming it is a 5 if I am current on my Roman numerals.

                Vetter frame mounted fairing CHEAP!!!!

I'm sure you know what you have. I'm the one with the identity crisis. Mine has a trashed windshield, broken bracket mount & a crack in the inner shell. Does yours have a windshield? No biggie, if not. If you can tell me what the shipping would be to 01515(N. Brookfield,MA.) & add in what you want for it, I'd really appreciate it. I'm sure the shipping won't be cheap, but I'm kinda banged up from the crash, and repairs are going slow. Might be worth it to spend the money & save the time. Thanks.

It has a windshield but is in rough shape. Otherwise the fairing is in good shape. I will post pics asap. Just been real busy.

It kinda makes sense that a V would be on an 82.
It seems that the older the bike, the earlier the version of the WJ's are.
                    Normaly that is.

In my case, I've got a WJ2 that I picked up somewhere and it needs some serious help. I've got cracks growing everywhere on this thing. One day, one big bump and the top half will come crashing off.

I'm eyeing one (a 3 i think) locally right now on CL, but he wants $80 for it and it's missing the signals. However, the signals on my 2 will work just fine.
Maybe I can talk him down some. (if only the SWMBO will let me spend the $)

III's don't come with signals, you are supposed to use the signals from the bike and move them to the fairing, the IV was the first numbered version with it's own signals.

                          Vetter frame mounted fairing CHEAP

                          Nick,

Do you know what # Vetter it is? If you post a pic of it, or even the one piece mount, it would be helpful. Shipping can be a bear from Michigan to Mass., but my repaired unit is still kinda shaky. It had a broken mount at the bracket that I fixed before the accident. It was a real jigsaw puzzle putting it back together this time. Lots of expoxy and steel plate patching. It's as good as it will get, but I'm sorta rough on my bike. I don't know it will make it thru some of my off-road exploring. So a back-up plan is in order. Thanks.

Thank you to all that showed interest. I had it sitting out drying off after washing the dust off and a passerby stopped and made an offer I just could not refuse. Again, thanks to all that asked about it. I just don't know how to delete this post.

Will that fit an 80 Special? I am also in Michigan.
