  • WTT special front end for standard

I am wanting standard forks, looking to trade my stock special forks, calipers, and speedo drive for your standard forks and speedo drive. So we can each pay shipping one way, and I'll let u keep your standard calipers as an extra. My special forks don't appear to be leaking, but new seals and fresh oil would probably be a good idea. My calipers work, I can get the wheel to stop, but may need pads, I haven't even looked at them. Will post pics if I can get out to my storage shed this weekend. Let me know what u think. Located in Nampa Idaho, 83687 for shipping reference...

    FYI on fork swap

Fred has outlined it before in other threads but gist is if you swap you need the triple trees also to prevent changing the steering geometry.

"either fork swap works just fine and retains the stock trail as long as you swap them fender, triple trees and all.

Special fork legs in Standard 'trees moves the wheel forward to reduce the trail and make the steering lighter (twitchy and possibly dangerous). This is good for sidecars to make steering less effort.

Standard fork legs in Special 'trees moves the wheel backwards to increase the trail and make the steering heavier (slower to respond?)."

Anyway there are many threads on the topic.

I may have a good set I would swap you for. I have a special sitting here with standard forks and a special tree. I do not have a clue why someone would have changed them but trust me, without the tree being changed it is hard to handle even pushing it around the yard. I will have to check on the condition of the chrome on the set I have before I could offer them for trade to make sure they are good enough. Unfortunetly that will have to wait as SWMBO has spoken for now.

Well I guess I will be needing std triple trees then too. Perhaps we could trade forks, speedo drive, brake calipers, and then I could get trees elsewhere, like from andreas...? I would offer my fender also, but my bike came to me without one...

I'll tell you what. I know from personal experience what the change does to the bike, that is why i have the triple tree from the Standard. The forks were purchased wrong from someone that didn't know there was a difference. I will see what it cost to send them, and you can have them for the freight. What is your zipcode?

83686, but if battle ground is anywhere near an oak harbor freight lines location, I pass one everyday... might be cheaper than usps and definately cheaper than UPS or FedEx...
