    Replacement lock covers...check it out

    Why thank you, Ben!

    Those who know me know how anal I am about my equipment being as complete and correct as possible.

    So I was surfing and found replacement lock covers like these



    are still available from Tuffy Security for $7 each. Their website:

      Update...

      Test fitting the left bag. looks like I'll need to fabricate a bracket for the footrest mounting. DUH the Specials are a bit different the Standards, eh?

          Hi Randy,
          Good looking paint job. That bracket to the footrest looks pretty close.
          How about changing the location / angle of the bracket in behind the bag?
          Maybe as simple as drilling new holes in the metal part. ( you would need to remove the plastic bag part)

            My suggestion is based on this style of bracket as seen from the rear.

              I hear you Phil, trouble is that chrome guard is one piece and it pivots on the top shock bolt, so there's no way to get it any closer to the footrest. no biggie, I'll just whip up a bracket BTDT. Same deal for the cross piece that attaches to the tail fender, it will also need a custom bracket.

                Nice Randy. It's just such a project that could maybe get my XS out of the garage once in a while. But then again, storage isn't the only reason the ST gets ridden all the time.

                Those are Special bags adapted to fit your bike? I like em..

                  Progress..getting there

                  Still need to finish fabricating the 'Special-to-Standard conversion brackets' and rub out the clear coat...getting them ready for a trip this weekend

                        yeah its that wind/weather protection...plus that seamless but deep rumble of the V4...especially running ethanol free gas...still though it is a vintage Yamaha rally...I'd like to bring my XJ to XSEast but I might just trailer it...just getting too old to sit on the XJ that long...plus its now back to the naked look. I aint gonna fight no 70 mph headwinds for long...
