My son's XS750 fragged it's motor so he's parting it out.
Anyone need the rear drive, make an offer? Or the front wheel, or any other XS750 part, come to that.

Which FD is it? Type I or Type II(a) or Type II(b) ? I think that would make a difference in the desirability of the FD since we now know there is a difference in the durability between those three drives with the last of the three being the best.

      Hi Cy,
I have no idea what type it is. Are there distinguishing marks or stampings that will tell?

        Fred,

The biggest difference is in looking at the center bearing. If it has a bushing around it, or if it is hollow around it. See post #95 of this thread...

          Hi DGXSER,
Nah, I'm not gonna tear it down to look inside. If there's anything distinctive on the outside, fine, otherwise, caveat emptor. I will say the FD has never given any trouble on the XS750.

Fred, if you look there is a collar that sits around the axle providing extra support for the large outer gear if it's the good stronger one. If it doesn't have the collar that surrounds the axle (visible when looking from the wheel side, 3phase shows a picture of it in his breakdown thread) it's the weaker older version, that's if it's the type 2 which can be told by if there is a phillips screw that holds the front section into the drive when taken off the bike or not, if no screw it's a type 1, and is much less desirable.

Fred, I'd take the '750 drive in a heartbeat no matter which type it is but I've managed to accumulate a pile of final drives: 2 XS11, 1 XJ11, 1 baked XS850 and 1 baked XS750.

That's not counting the 2 XS11 final drives that are still on Bush and Old Faithful and the new XS850 on Columbo. I've run out of places to put them and the recycling center is giving me the fisheye with all the gear oil I've been bringing in!
