  • 17" Rear rim for sale

I have a 17" rear rim that I bought by mistake for my xs1100 special 1980.
It is a 3 holed rim so I am thing 79 and earlier?
Don't know how to distingwish standard or special.
Can this be used to achieve same effect as final drive transplant?

    Please make offere.
    You pay shipping.
    Thanks,
    George

I wouldn't be quite the same as the final drive transplant, it would leave you still running a little higher RPM's than the drive transplant and you would have to either put multiple valve stems in, or plug the bead locks or run tubes in tubeless tires.

And BTW, a 17" rim is for a Standard. All Standards had the 17" Rim and all Specials had the 16" Rim. Adding the 17" Rim to a Special will increase the speed for a given RPM, but as Cy mentioned, especially with the tire selections available, not quite to the same extent as the FD swap.

And tire selection for the 17" Rim is very limited compared to the 16" Rim.

However, the 750 FD is not as robust as the 1100 FD, and while the 850 FD looks to be more robust than the 750 FD, the clicker for the deal may be that tire size is SO much better with the stock 16" wheel of the special VS the standards 17" wheel, even given the less robust 850 FD (which looks to be the recommended unit to go with now, it being apparently a lot more robust than the 750 FD's, although there is some evidence that some 750 FD's may be very similar if not the same as the 850 FD's.
