I have a 79 XS1100 thats been setting for 10 years the engine has not run for that long but it still turns over. The bike has a very nice custom seat from Diamond in the midwest and a vetter bag set up. Let me know what you want, I will take pictures of what ever you want.

Do the side covers say: XS1100 or xs1100special?
Does the front axle mount at bottom of forks or ahead of forks ?

You might want to check with crazy steve, but I'm pretty sure that seat will fit your 79 special. it will have the plastic fairing (?) tailpiece, however.Tom Clisham

The 79 special has a one year/model specific seat any other year/model won't fit without modifications and with the fiberglass pan on that seat will not be very conducive to modifications.Nathan
