Cy, I just noticed on your signature that one of my bikes is very similar.
78 Standard with Vetter Windjammer IV, Vetter side bags and trunk, and Yamaha rack. I finally found the right side bag mounts for the XS but I have not yet located the correct pieces for the floating trunk mount. I have also mounted stock rear crash guards (no wrap around trim) that actually work well with the Vetter bags. It is our cool weather bike and most of the miles are put on it in the fall and winter months, or at night to avoid the bugs. We ride the stripped down 79 Standard when it is too hot for the windshield.
    Current Stable:

1979 XS1100F - The Beast - Winter Project to Factory Full Dress
    1979 XS1100SF - Black Sunshine - The Lucky Find
    1978 XS1100E - Little Orphan Annie - Sold to a friend, slowly becoming a 1196 monster.
    WTB:
    1981 XS1100H Venturer - Long distance cruiser.
1989 FJ1200 - For playing in the curves!

The trunk mount is just a flat H shaped piece that goes under the trunk and bolts to the rack, and gets a hole in each corner to match up with the mounting holes in the trunk and the bunkees mount into that. You can get the bunkees a LOT cheeper from Granger supply than from Vetter himself, and I'm pretty sure they are the exact same part (if you don't have them already). You might check with catatonicbug, he made his own mount, I was lucky and got the mount with mine. The hardest part, even with the mount that came with it, was getting the mount clamped down to the luggage rack.

All 1981 Standards are considered Venturers and came with the Vetter knockoff fairing that has a square headlight, lowers, hinged side bags with heat shield on the bottom, rear crash guards and rail, sun shield on the gauges, rear rack, and best of all the bigger 6.3 gallon tank. Some came with a trunk but most did not due to the trunk production being unable to keep up.

I would like to get my hands on an all original Venturer. Nice classic tourer.

Nice lookin' scoot to finish puttin' back correctly.......BTW, the side cases are on the wrong sides......they need to be swapped left to right as the lids open from inward and that's why the striping isin't correct. They are backwards....Other than the re-done seat, it looks to be all there!

In the movie, repeating his namee 3 times made him reappear.

Let's see if it works -

shipping these pieces is going to be a real pita. and i wouldnt feel right sending u anything without u seeing them, especially used items. that would be a very large crate. then if you dont like them then there is the return factor. i dont want them back. id much rather sell them local so i dont have to deal with bashing on the forums. no hard feelings..

The problem is going to be finding someone who wants a fairing that is VERY specific to ONE bike locally, which is not very likely. Unless there is something pretty wrong with the fairing, I would think he is not likely to not like it, especially if your pictures in the original ad were good (and as I recall they seemed pretty good) so unless there is hidden damage that your not showing (I'm not accusing you of this just to be clear here) I doubt there should be a problem. If worried, do a GOOD set of pictures from all angles, pay attention to mounting points and connectors as these are possible problem areas, and send them to him so he can make an informed long distance buy. Then it's possible to make a long distance sale and make sure it's clear that it's a non-refundable situation. For some items, local sales just don't give you the large audience needed to make the sale for things that are a specialty item such as a fairing for a 32 year old bike made for 4 years. It's not a direct fit for ANYTHING else.

                                Aaron,

I'm sending another PM to you with my home email.
I want your parts. Don't worry about shipping, don't worry about me ranting about their condition. If they're close to the photo, thats fine with me. I'd be quicker to complain about it taking over a month to buy them, but that's off topic.

I have close family friends that I've grown up callling Aunt and Uncle who live about 35 minutes north of Clearwater. My Uncle Gary is willing to go to you, pick up the parts, and ship them to me.

I'll need your contact info, so I can pass it along to Uncle Gary, so he can contact you directly and make the purchase.

See PM for my direct contact info.
