i see no problems with ppl hardtailing
or chopping there bikes or doing anything else they want to them,
its just a pity 2 see these working/running bikes pulled
        to pieces and sold.
there was a complete and running midnite on ebay
the other day that has been broken up and sold.

nice looking bike on his blog, But no doubt he will be pricing his parts HIGH $$$

With that nice pep talk addition to his blog, adding to the hype.

With such praise in that blog, baffles me as to why part out such a nice bike................oh yea I forgot MO MONEY MO MONEY

No offence to anybody I love the bikes I have rode the red one for the past 3 years. But I am 22 y/o going to college and I need the money, they are worth more in peices then complete. I bought the bike for $1500 did a crap load of work to it and i hate to do this, but I am in a bind. I havent taken them apart yet so I am still interested in sellin as is if anyone is interested.

Well, if you find that you MUST part them do the next owner a favor and keep the frame & engine as a match-number set.

Yeah, I don't agree with parting out bikes that are clean runners. If they are high miles and hammered, needing expensive work, then OK. But, those bikes don't look like junkyard candidates. I also predict that this kid will find that he's got two massive heaps of bike parts, with no buyers. It takes a long time to part one bike out, let alone two. If his time frame is short, he may actually get less money than if he would have sold them complete, leaving two ruined bikes in his wake.

I need a daily ride -- have you trashed them yet?

so have you torn them up yet? I need a new daily ride. Bibleman isn't sure if he wants to sell or not, and I need a bike within the next month or so.

I will say that while you will get more for them as parts, you will likely spend 6 months to a year getting it, and that a little at a time. What with riding season coming up country wide, it's a good time to look at selling complete bikes, especially runners (or even close). I know about april prices go WAY up, as that's when the fair weather riders all start looking for a bike to ride, and when new riders start looking around. I know the time I look for them is late fall and winter, that's when the prices are at their lowest. Now parts seem to be the other way around, as winter is when many are working on them, so parts go faster, summer is not wrenching time, it's riding time.

You know, I have to wonder about the parts being sold on ebay due to "legal issues"? That makes me wonder what's going on here. I'm not sure why anybody would want to sell on ebay, unless they thought they could get the price on there higher than the additional cost of selling on ebay.

Ok so you bring up legal issues? The only reason I mentioned legal issues is as far as ebay is concerned myself as the seller and the buyer are protected!!!
Cause I would hate to bring disputes of any sort to this web page, not that there would be any cause I am an honest person!! but I really appreciate what the guys are doing here.

I am no longer parting out my 79' XS1100 special. I am going to contribute a bit of time and repair it. Final decision and I am so excited!!
I will most likely be asking a lot of questions and posting photos of the progress on here and on my blog. Feel free to comment @
