  • Stock exhaust from and '80 Special

I dug the old stock exhaust from my bike out again yesterday for another look. It turns out that it actually is not in as bad a shape as I thought. The LH muffler was broken behind the heat shield, and thee was a heat shield bolt broken off in the pipe. There are some minor dings and dents, as the exhaust came off a bike with a few miles, but it is not rusted out. The cross pipe is in good shape too. I welded the muffler back on, and reworked the broken bolt to accept a new one. I decided that I will probably never use it again on my bike, and thought someone here might need one. Stock exhausts is probably the area I have spent my least amount of time researching, and so I do not really know anything about them, or what they cost. If someone here is interested, let me know here or via PM, and we can work a deal from there. I could also sell them individually as well, if someone needed just one. If someone wants more pics, I can oblige as well. Thanks guys

I have only spent a little time shining on them. The areas under the bike that don't normally see light are slightly discolored, but I think a good polish would clean that up. They are not rusted through.

The slant cut muffler looks like it's from an XJ, is it?

It could be. In the writing on the side it states something about conforming to emmissions prior to 1982. I am not really an expert on stock exhausts, so pardon the lack of info in that regard. That pipe appeared slightly to be newer than the other one. The both bolt up in stock locations on the XS, though. The difference in mufflers is why I am offering to split the set up.
Sorry about the lack of info. I only ran this set up for a few months, and did not really spend a lot of time researching about it. There are others here with a lot more knowlege in this regard than I have.
