  • Anyone around Flint Michigan would like to help a mechanical noob

If you want, we are having a rally in central Illinois on May 14-16 to do the Dremel fix on another bike. We (meaning you) could do yours at the same time! If you don't want to go that far, it's a 5 to 6-hour job for a newbie with some mechanical know-how and the proper tools. No real garage needed. I have a carport, where I have done it several times (just finished one last night).

As for the carbs, if you're getting that kind of mpg, I'd just leave 'em right where they are! Unless you are having issues with them, it sounds like you're doing quite good!
    1980 XS850SG - Sold
    1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot - You're right.
