    Anyone wanna swap their Special tank for a Standard?

    I have a Standard Tank, but am looking for a Special tank. You ship me yours and I'll ship you mine

    My Standard tank is in pretty solid shape. I put it in an electrolytic bath and got the rust out. It was only surface rust, the tank is solid with no leaks. It had a few minor dings, but I smoothed them out. Currently it is primered black.

    Just looking for one in decent condition with no holes or major dents.

    I know alot of people like the Standard tanks due to the increased fuel volume, so I though I'd see if anyone was up for a swap. I'm chopping mine out, so the Standard tank just doesn't fit the lines I'm going for.

    I have pics to send if your interested. I'll try to post some if I get a chance.

    Forgot to mention...

    The petcocks would probably need to be included in the swap as I don't believe they are a straight up swap between tanks. Both of my petcocks are in working order. Hopefully yours are too. Also included are the filler cap assembly, which is in good shape with good chrome.

      I have a 79 special tank I'd like to swap

      Hi, I'm fairly new to the boards and XS's but I worked in the high performance bike industry for 15 years until recently doing head porting and machine work/engine building for Lee's Performance in Charlotte, NC. Anyway I have a 79 Special black tank with a few dings and dents that could be easily concealed/repaired with some body filler and a fresh paint job. The petcocks are leakers so I have in line lawnmower plastic petcocks to shut everything off and that seems to work. I can send High res pics from my Fuji digital cam if you want. Tank inside seems to be good, I have had inline clear filters on just in case but they are still clean after several hundred miles. Let me know if you are interested. Mike

          The tank mentioned above might have a little more damage than I can fix, so for right now, I am still looking for a swap.

            Looks like myself and mrbisbob will swap tanks after all, so the tank is gone.
